I think when the stone and band are the same MM they look so sleek and modern with out looking trendy or crazy.

I really want one for a right hand ring one day. My Engagement Ring is a 4prong but sits very high and is set like a tension setting (there are groves in the prongs to have the diamond girdle in and the diamond touches in no other place)

I think tension settings are super cool and very modern. The only person I have ever known in real life was my aunt, who is a musician, but careful, and her stone fell out and was lost in a pool. ๐Ÿ™

@sporting:  I don’t think it’s only tension holding it in. There are grooves in the metal where the diamond is inserted in and secured. I would speak to a jeweler if you really want it, if it was so sensitive and the diamond easily fell out, they would have stopped making it long ago.

@DoggieDowner:  I love that ring! Very sophisticated looking. I also love your icon. I’m a doggie owner too ๐Ÿ™‚

@sporting:  I have a tension set ring.. there is a tiny groove where it sit’s in but it’s not really deep.. To tell you the truth this has been the most secure ring I have had… my original engagement ring was a cathedral set solitare… And let me tell you that ring was in the repair shop more than on my hand.. before I got married the diamond fell out and then everytime I went in to check it a prong was broken it was loose .. And I mean EVERYTIME! And i hardly wore it… Im a hair dressier so I couldn’t wear if to work.. I never showered with it or slept with it, took  it off to wash my hands dishes etc.  and it was always a problem.. now with my new ring Its on my hand basically all the time.. BC of all the restrictions with my other ring I took if off and lost it:( so I would rather lose a diamond that can b replaced than the who thing like I did.. Very sad I was very upset but anyhow.. My new ring us beastmode lol and is a trooper and I have had no problems and it’s been over a year;) so I hope this helps…

I had a tension set e ring for my first marriage (am now onto my second!) and had to have it fixed THREE TIMES in three years. The company fixed it for free but I know it had to basically be remade every time and I really regretted it as a choice in the end.

@Sheardiva:  That’s really unique – like a little suspension bridge over the channel diamonds.

Mine is set more into the band – no cathedral

I have a tension set. Honestly yes its given me some troubles. I smacked my hand really hard against a metal table and knocked the diamond loose. That was addressed. A few months later I noticed that where the metal hugs the diamond was “sharp”, so that meant the diamond was loose. Now that its all tightened back up its been fine. I had no issues w my ring for 2 years up until then and I’m very hard on my hands/rings. I tried to include a side view w the other pic but I’m on an iPad which makes life hard ๐Ÿ™‚
