We had our wedding in a tent, more like an old Turkish pavilion made out of goat hair in 29th of June last year. Normally people expect tents to be hotter but those are special to keep you warm in winter and cold in summer. It rained cats and dogs on our wedding day which we kind of anticipated, so it was after all a great choice.

Unless the tent will be nicely AC’d, August and regular tents could be a problem.

Mid Atlantic wedding outside in August…..you will look like a hot sweaty mess and your guests will hate you.

sweatergal007 :  Yes, July, August, September to early October are the hottest months in SoCal! (Not saying OP is from there but I agree with you)

We had an outdoor tent wedding in mid-August in Toronto. The temperature was perfect. We had our ceremony start at 5, immediately followed by cocktails and dinner.

Is there an option to have it air conditioned?

jlwedding82021 :  what time of day were you thinking? Brunch or sunset might be nice. A 3pm ceremony into cocktails then dinner and dancing sounds like sweaty hell.

I suppose it depends on location, but there are few places in the US that I would generally find comfortable in August. Moreover, it is unpredictable, so you need to be prepared for overly hot temperatures and/or high humidity, unseasonably cool weather or rain/storms. Outdoor weddings can be beautiful, but I don’t know if I would risk one.

Went to a tented wedding last August in the OBX of NC- it was hot, but it was fine. It’s your day! Do what you want. Everyone will support and have a blast.
