if they put the tent up a few days ahead of time the ground should stay dry depending on where you live and if the tent is uphill or downhill.

a lot of people (me included) have the tent as their rain back up plan (so we will only be using it if it DOES rain! they make tents that are made for rain, and they have a part that collects the rain on the sides.  Just make sure the tent is big enough to fit everyone!

A tent will keep the rain from falling on your guests.  But depending on how long the rain falls for, the ground around the tent will get saturated, and people will inevitably slug wetness into the tent.  Most tent weddings will withstand slight rain, though.

If the location and day/time of the year is normally a very wet one, I’d err on being safe and choosing an indoor wedding.

You will need to tell the tent company to make necessary steps (read: you pay more) to make it weather safe if there is a possibility for rain.
