Fiance and I are deciding on our wedding venue. My dream venue is Wavehill, and the wedding would be tented and on BEAUTIFUL garden grounds. I am only afraid that if it rains, my wedding will be ruined. We are looking at other awesome venues, but Wavehill keeps coming up everytime we need to make a decision. Should we risk the tented outdoors?

Have you talked to the venue about their rain plan? Surely they have some sort of back up option! They have to, don’t they?
I would also check the history of rain that time of the year in your location – kind of assess the risk!

I’d be more worried about the heat at the end of August than the rain. As long as there’s a backup plan I think you should be fine.

DO IT!! The only way your wedding will be ruined is if you let it get to you. I had an outdoor wedding and the day before checked the weather and it had tornado warnings!! Luckily i ran out and bought a ton of umbrellas, and figured it did not really matter, as long as Fiance showed up!! We endend up using the umbrellas for shade instead of rain! Enjoy every moment and we will all pray it is a beautiful day!

Im doing a tented wedding in the end of august! I say do it!! You have to be positive and what happens will happen. The rain wont ruin anything everyone is there for you and will have a fun time no matter. The venue should definitely have a rain plan which will take care of anything and everything!
Good luck I hope you get the venue of your dreams!

Thank you so much everyone!!!!! I’m going to try to convince Fiance now… 🙂

@Mrs.Williams: That is awesome! Congrats!!! The venue’s rain plan is to add another tent on the grounds in case of rain… What is your venue’s alternate plan? Thank you so much for your response, it really reassures me 🙂

@missbubbles: That is awesome! Maybe I will get umbrellas just in case too… And you are right, in the end everything will be super fun.

I’m doing a tented reception at the beginning of September in Michigan. Our venue provides tent walls and heaters if needed, which is something you should look into. I’m mostly hoping the temperature isn’t so low to require heaters, which it was last year during Labor Day…

i love wave hill – it’s such a beautiful place 🙂 i think as long as there isn’t a torrential downpour, just having a tent is perfectly suitable for protecting against the rain.
