So as you may or may not know, we are having a nautical wedding aboard a yacht on a Friday night.
I am getting SO excited but one thing keeps coming up in the back of my mind…
People arrive to board @ 6:00PM
People start boarding @ 6:15PM
Yacht leaves dock @ 6:30PM
Ceremony starts @ 6:35PM
Ceremony ends @ 7:00PM
An hour or less for dinner @ 7:00 – 8:00PM
Then dancing/cake/etc from 8:00-10:15
Yacht docks @ 10:15
Everyone off the yacht by 10:30PM
Honestly, This timeline terrifies me in comparison to others I’ve seen…
Sooo I think it will all BLOW BY and I will need/want to continue the party after we dock.
Adding an hour to the yacht is not really smart because if we did that, EVERYONE would have to stay (including those with babysitters waiting as well as those who are tired from working all day as well as my elderly grandmother & the few children there)
How do you think I should work this?
Since we have an open bar, I HOPE everyone will take advantage of it and drink up and celebrate with us but if they do that, how will we all get somewhere after?
Our host hotel bar said we could have guests come back and said the bartender would stay as long as we tipped him well and they have the ability to play music but not really any dance floor or anyhing cuz its in the lobby bar but again… even the host hotel is 5 miles from the yacht and I’m not sure how we’d manage to get everyone back – taxi’s I guess?

but I’m a little scared of people not wanting to do that cuz of the hassle of taxis and going to get their cars & etc… also, what if its lame cuz it might have to stay kinda quiet at the hotel from 11-? because guests are sleeping right?
On the other hand, I thought about hiring a this party bus for 2 hrs of transport both before and after the wedding so the wedding party wouldn’t have to worry about driving… and I found a DOUBLE DECKER LONDON BUS that holds 50+ and will let you have wine, beer and champagne *no hard alcohol* but we could play music and drink and dance on the bus and tour around and hop to other bars as well and then drop off everyone back at their cars befor dropping us all back at the host hotel…
*A little background: Fiance is British but we’re getting married in Cali so this is a hilarious and MAJOR find that I think would be adorable for photos as well as unique & fun for all!

OR we could choose a bar closer that we know is lively and fun, get bottle service and a VIP area and have everyone meet us there… there are PLENTY of bars 1-2 miles near by.
The after party at the hotel seems a little unorganized and messy… but I think if I’m there cleaning/packing up all the wedding stuff, it might be best to just send people to the hotel until things are all packed up and Fiance and I can meet them there…
AND a local bar is all well and good but will we be able to get people there as well? I mean there are lots of bars like a mile or two away but they’re more like beach bars so idkkk it seems a little iffy to get people there as well… at least there would be a lively crowd and music tho to keep the celebration going…
I LOVE the idea of piling everyone into the big red bus w/ wine/beer/champagne and music and bring our photographers to snap some more pix and to cruise to a local bar or what not. We would also have the use of the big red bus for BEFORE pictures (as we’d need to get the wedding party and other guests shuttled to the venue)
Here’s how I’m seeing it:
Adding an hour to the reception would have been $2200
by having an after party we SAVE money really so I’d like to be able to make sure I don’t regret cutting the wedding too short because I”m THAT girl that loves to stay out til the sun comes up… so to speak! haha
The cost of the bar at the host hotel would probably max out at like $500 depending on how many people go… $750 MAX including tip!
A night out would probably be similar… maybe more because of a higher mark up but the party atmosphere is guaranteed so thats worth it… $1K MAX including tip.
With the big red bus there would be 2 hours pre-wedding and 2 hours after for $1250 (plus at least another $250 in alcohol to stock the bus up with drinks/snacks for 30-50 people… plus like $150 tip?) so we’re looking at $1650 for the big red bus…and some priceless photos! haha but yeah
For all those who are married and/or have been to MANY weddings… what do you think of the scenarios? Will I be too tired/busy packing things up from the wedding to party til 12:30 with all my friends? Is it a better idea to just let people come back to the bar if they want instead of renting it and making it set in stone?
I feel like the big red bus is so fun and different EVERYONE will want to come on it and hang our for another 2 hours of reception time… thats how I would be!
but my venue makes us take everything down that night so I hate the thought of my aunts and cousins all cleaning it up for me while I am partying with friends on a big red bus…
I know this is a novel but please tell me what you guys thnk is best.
