i’d say put it off, if yours is a more formal wedding and theirs is a beach wedding, it might look too overdone, even if it was a formal wedding it may also look too overdone as a guest, guests don’t usually have bridal hairdos

You will look overdone, and I think you won’t be able to keep from at least THINKING “Oh awesome my hair is like it will be when I get married!!!!” which means you might mention it…and therefore take away from the people getting married that day.

@smiles4jo:  can you show us a picture of what you’re looking to do?  this way we can see just how “formal” it is?

I don’t think the thought “her hair is clearly overdone” has ever crossed anyone’s mind unless it’s a super tight sleek up-do or has glitter/shiny clips in it. Just my perspective. Most wedding hair trial pictures I’ve seen would not raise an eyebrow at any event that warrants invitations.

ETA: I do think if you’re having an outdoor wedding yourself, this would be a really great trial run for how well the do would hold up.

I don’t think it’s a big deal. I get my hair done sometimes to go to weddings and I never gotten strange looks or comments. I doubt anyone would be paying cflose attention to your hair, unl;ess you show up in a viel or sparkly white headband of some sort.

I think that sort of look would be fine.  I’ve done similar updos myself for other people’s weddings before.

@smiles4jo:  GAH, that’s gorgeous. I think the first one is perfect for a beach wedding, actually.

I say this kind of updo should work, anything more formal might be over the top.

That would definitely work! It’s not too over-the-top at all!

I think it’s perfectly fine to test it out.  =)

The difference between a “bridal” hairstyle and any other dressy hairstyle is usually not all that pronounced (even if the price tag is) … as PPs have mentioned, as long as it’s not super elaborate and you keep the accessories toned down, etc., it wouldn’t be a big deal.

That said, will there be much overlap between the guests at this wedding and the guests at yours? If it matters to you that they not see your big day hairstyle before your big day, well …
