Fiance and I are originally from Houston and that’s where we are having our engagment party. My aunt is hosting the party. We love the idea of doing it texas themed, but we are not huge country western fans (i.e Boots & cowboy hats).
My aunt asked me for input but I’m not sure how to tell her we don’t want a boots and bows themed party. Does anyone have any other Texas themed party ideas?

@orangeroses29: What time of year is your engagement party? If it’s in the springtime, the bluebonnets and wildflowers in Texas are famous, and you could have a loose “wildflower” theme (like a boho theme, with wildflowers in vases and maybe seed packets as favors).
Texas is also famous for BBQ, so you could have a BBQ theme, there’s lots of cute ways to incorporate that – like monogrammed napkins or bibs, serve BBQ and Southern side dishes (creamed corn, corn bread, green beans, etc.) and maybe s’mores for dessert.
Or if you wanted to do something goofy, they always say everything is bigger in Texas. You could decorate with oversized things… I’m not sure exactly how you’d execute it but it would be a funny theme!
And there’s always NASA… BUt I have no idea how to turn that into a cute theme. Maybe something involving stars – like “star-crossed lovers” or “the stars aligned” – haha I dunno!

I vote BBQ and bluebonnets! 🙂
Maybe vaguely rustic… mason jars, lace, etc.
And not country just nouveux bluegrass music.
LOVE! I want to come! 🙂
