I’d mail the thank you cards to guests after they leave. You’re going to be thanking them for coming to the wedding, not just for the gift, so it’s not something you can do ahead of time.

I’m going to give my parents thank you cards for their love and support at the rehearsal dinner, and then separate thank you cards later for the wedding.

1. Can we give thank you card to guests on the wedding day during the reception (maybe before they leave)? Or should I mail them afterwards? You should mail thank cards after your wedding. How can you give a thank you card to a guest, if you don’t know what gift they got you? Even for the gifts that you receive prior to the wedding, your thank you cards should be mailed out. You can verbally thank your guests, but if I went to a wedding and was given a thank you card for a gift the couple hasn’t even looked at, I would be offended.

2. Did you/ are you planning to give your parents thank you cards on the wedding day? If yes, did you/ will you send them another one by mail after the wedding day?

EDIT: Okay, the bee is being evil today. It didn’t post the second answer :-/

Here it is:

If your’s or his parents are paying for and/or helping out in any way with the wedding, it would be appropriate to give them a verbal thank you on your wedding day; however, you should really send them a separate thank you card and/or gift after the wedding.

@PinkMagnolia:agreed.

I would send a thank you card after. We are also giving our parents a thank you presents and card at the rehersal dinner.. and then we will send them a thank you card as well when we send to the rest of the guests.

It would be kinda odd to give them the thank you card before they leave. It should after the event. Are you having favors? because favors count as a “day of” thank you
