My birthday was a few days ago and my Future Mother-In-Law gave me a birthday card with a $100 check. That was so generous of her and I’m very grateful. When she gave me the card, I hugged and thanked her but I didn’t open the card until I was at home.
I’m writing her a nice thank you card now but I’m wondering if I should hand deliver it or mail it? I see her a couple times a week… And is there anything I should do over and above the thank you card?
ETA: I definitely want to show my appreciation, she’s been very kind and generous to me, and to my children.

I would mail it, only because I LOVE getting things in the mail. Most of the time it’s bills and junk mail so anytime I receive real mail I love it.

I agree… getting things in the mail is so much fun! And you’ll really show your appreciation by taking the time to put on a stamp and sticking it in the mailbox or going to the post office.

I would also mail it. We get so little mail these days-it’s always fun to see an envelope waiting.
Have you decided what you are going to do with the money? I would mention my choice, even if it was just general, like” I’m going to use your generous gift to purchase my bridal shoes”. Pick something she likes.

Thanks for the feedback! I wanted to mail it but was afraid it would be too formal! But I agree, receiving something in the mail is fantastic, especially when most things are done electronically nowadays. I’ll pop it in the mail today with a special note 🙂

If you’re close to her, I would hand deliver like she did with your card.

My Future Mother-In-Law loves to get things in the mail. I’m sure if you deliver the card by hand it will still be very nice, though.

I voted mail it, but I don’t see how anoyine could fault you for hand delivering it.
