- Wedding: June 2015
I got married 3 weeks ago, and our thank you cards came this week. I am writing a thank you card to every person or couple who attended the wedding, regardless of whether or not they gave a gift (more of a thank you for coming and celebrating with us card).
My question only applies to about 5 people/couples. Since the wedding, I have had several people (mostly family members) tell me that our gift is “on the way,” or “coming soon.” My question is whether or not I should write a thank you card to the people who have told me this now, when I do the others, or wait until I receive their gift. I know that people have up to a year to give a gift, but I would feel terrible waiting that long to write a thank you note.
In particular, one of the couples that told me this is my aunt and uncle, who said that our gift is coming from Ireland (one of our favorite places). However, they’re not traveling there until the fall, so I know the gift won’t come until then.
What would you do? Write a card now and another when the gift comes? Wait until the gift arrives?
