@vorpalette:  I do think 12 is a bit long but I think writing for several dozen people (if like me you like to do a good job with message and presentation is reasonable) 6 months is fine. Hopefully they aren’t rude and do it, but cut them some slack!

I am OCD though so mine will be out in a month! hahaha

I’m all for cutting people some slack and think that up to 6 months is acceptable, but that might be because I didn’t get mine out til 4 1/2 months. Embarassed I felt really bad about being so late and really meant to send them out by 3 months, but life gets in the way. Oh and I had to write about 100 cards! GAH! I sure hope my guests’ lives aren’t so boring that they are sitting around waiting for my thank you card. Wink

it’s too long if your guests start wondering where the thank you cards are lol

I think anywhere from 2-4 months would be “acceptable” to me.  I do not agree with the 12 month mark. I think I have recently heard that up to 6 months is okay.  I’d like to get them out as soon as possible though – others don’t care as much.  I had my shower thank yous done the next day!

I think 2 mos is quick to expect it.. We got married 9/29 and I haven’t gotten our thank you’s out yet.. but I want to do a photo thank you so I have to wait for my pro pic cd, which will hopefully be here soon… then I’ll have to design the thank you, order it, wait for them to arrive and then fill them out…. I will be looking at the 3-4 month range.  Longer then I’d like but still reasonable in my opinion.  I’d say before 6 mos mark, then I’d start to really wonder….

@lovekiss:  This is a frequent misconception, but etiquette does NOT say you have a year to write your thank-you notes. Guests have up to a year to give a wedding gift to the couple, but the thank-you notes should be done much more promptly.

I think you are being a bit impatient. Even if they got the proofs for the pro photos back a month ago, it still takes a few weeks for printing, then writing out the thank yous. Then again, I’ve never counted how long it takes me to receive a thank you note.

I was a bridesmaid in a wedding in August and haven’t received a thank you yet, but I know then only received their pro proofs a few weeks ago.

@jpalm13:  “I had started asking where they were at 1 month.”

WOW! That’s aggressive. I am all in favor of prompt thank-yous, but expecting the couple to have completed +/- 100 cards in the span of 2-3 weeks (assuming they went on a honeymoon) is a bit unreasonable in my opinion. Can it be done? Certainly. Is it fair for you to consider this couple rude because they didn’t? I don’t think so.

OP, I think 2-3 months is a reasonable time frame. I don’t agree with the notion that a couple gets 12 or even 6 months, but I think less than two months out is a bit premature for it to be considered rude.

@vorpalette:  I waited for my pics to come in so I could use one for my cards. The pictures took a month to come in, I ordered the thank yous that day, had them within a week and a half and my thank yous were all mailed two days later. So, basically a month and a half after my wedding.

You said they have received their pictures, so their thank you cards should have been sent by now. I’d be annoyed.
