We bought my parents a 2-night package at a cute hotel on Catalina Island. Maybe there is a nice bed and breakfast relatively close by, but still a bit of a getaway? We also included a gift certificate to a steakhouse near the hotel. For my in-laws, we bought them a gift certificate at one of their favorite restaurants.

We gave both sets of parents IOUs for a canvas print of any wedding picture of their choice.

Fiance is getting his mom a gift card to her favorite tennis store and I’m gettin my grandmother (basically my mom) some nice bath salts and a pair of pajamas for a trip she’s taking next month – we wanted to do something practical for them.

My dad and step mom are getting the same personalized picture frame as my mom and step dad.

We’ll probably wait and gift wedding albums as a Christmas present.

My friend gave her parents a tree to plant on their land. They live out in the country.

We’ll give them wedding albums for Christmas as well as gift cards to their favorite nice restaurants.  We think they like them 🙂

We gave them a vacation (had a lot of Amex points after wedding expenditures!!)

Not sure what your budget it.  We considered was something from Simon Pearce — they have very nice engraved glass bowls, like the celebration bowl:

Or this company engraves their handblown champagne glasses for free:

@lukesgirl1823: No problem! I ordered one for a wedding gift for a friend of mine and was blown away when I received it in the mail – very good quality, beautiful, and unique, which is why I keep recommending the seller! So we decided we’ll get them for our thank you gifts for parents. Which style did you go with?
