Instead of a traditional registry, Fiance and I are sponsoring an assistance dog and have set up a fund with the training school as our registry. Our guests have been thrilled to help us and the contributions are starting to come in. We are so pleased that we can make a difference in someone’s life – Fiance and I are older and have no need of more things!
Anyway I am writing my first thank you notes and am stumped as to how to phrase our thanks without sounding clichéd. Any thoughts?? My thanks in advance – I am not good at putting words on paper.

Astra: Is there any way you can give an update about the dog? I would love to see the actual dog I was sponsoring!

This might be too wordy, but I tend to pick an over-arching theme in thank yous like this:
“Dear So and So, Thank you so much for joining us in celebrating our marriage – your presence meant the world to us as we started this new phase of our lives. As you know, marriage is a major part of growth in life – not only for us, but for those lives around us that we are blessed to touch. In keeping with this, we adopted Lassie, a Golden Retreiver, and were honored that our guests, like you, would join us in sponsoring her, so she can touch the lives of others as an assistance dog. Thank you for being part of our special day, and for helping our love continue to touch others.”

weatherbug: Yes, the organization gives updates and sends a photograph at graduation. We will be able to share that photo once we have it later this summer.
abbie017: Thank you! That’s a big help!
