We got the proofs for our invitations, etc. Apparently the thank you cards match the design of the invitation, but instead of "thank you" written on the front, it has our married name. So the front of the card only says "Mr. and Mrs. ___ ___. Is this common? Seems odd to me.

It seems odd to me as well … I think I would prefer it to say thank you on the cover.

I don’t really know what the protocol is, and I think you could do whatever you like. I personally like stationary with our names on it rather than Thank You, because to me Thank You on the outside is stating the obvious since I’m going to write a nice thank you inside. Your names can be used for other correspondence through the year. And since these are being printed special, you could look at it like a chance to get personalized note cards. You can pick up Thank You cards anywhere.
But, if you love your invitations and want your Thank You’s to match, go for it. That’s the cool thing, it’s your wedding, you get to do what you want!

I think it’s a more traditional style of stationery to have it personalized with your name or monogram. I’ve received cards of both styles, so it’s really up to your preference.
