I’m getting ready to buy thank you notes. I’ll need to write more than a few before the wedding, also for my shower. Is it ok to have the date on the front of the thank you note if it’s being sent before the big day?
What I’m looking at has “Thank You” then our first names and then the date.
Also do I need separate thank you note stationary for the shower? My instinct says yes but I’m not sure (also should that include both of our names on the front?)
Thank you ladies!

junebug611: So there aren’t really rules for Thank You note stationary. It doesn’t have to have a picture of you two, it doesn’t have to have the date, it doesn’t have to have your names, it doesn’t even have to say Thank You (of course, it’s welcome to have any/all of these things if that’s your style).
It’s fine to have the date on your wedding Thank Yous, even if the Thank You is being sent before the wedding.
I would get different stationary for the shower and wedding, just because you’ll likely be sending two thank you notes to all your shower guests – one for the shower gift and one for a wedding gift. You don’t really want to send them two of the exact same card (no rules against this, but it’s just nicer to get two different cards, ya know?)
To avoid the issue of whether one or both of your names belongs on the shower stationary – just get generic Thank You cards, without your names, problem solved. Leave the fancy personalized ones for the wedding gifts.
