This may have been a breach of etiquette, but I would send off a thank you note right away for the gifts that came in the mail prior to our wedding. Am I obligated to send them another thank you for attending?

Good question, I don’t know. I think it would be nice to do so, and include a “thanks again” for the wedding gift sent earlier.

I did not with few exceptions (people who traveled a long way to join us). However, I did send notes to people who attended but did not give gifts. Good luck with your thank you notes! We had fun writing ours together over glasses of wine and rewarded ourselves with a special date when we were done!

Honestly, the card is a Thank you for the present. The reception and meal is a thank you for attending.
I wouldn’t send a 2nd Thank You card…

I agree with KLP. To piggyback that comment, if you gave a favor that was a thank you for attending

Agreed! You’re off the hook. Give your hands and stationery a rest 🙂

I don’t think you need to send another thank you for coming if you already sent one for a gift before the wedding – the reception is the thank you, especially if you thanked them in person at the wedding and had favours.
If you want to send one go ahead, but I don’t think it’s necessary.
