When do you send thank yous for registry items that are back ordered? I got an email notification that included the message from the gift givers, so I know who gave me the item and what they ordered. The items won’t be shipped until late December and my wedding is on November 20. So do I send the thank you now or wait until I recieve the gift?

I would say when you receive it. It’s a good way for the gift givers to know you received it successfully and will make the note more personal if you can comment on how the gift has been helpful to you or something like “I really enjoy the hand mixer you got me, makes cake so much more fun to make” or something cheezy like that haha.

i would wait till you actually get it as well for the same reasons as the PP

I would also say to wait until you receive it. Since you will still be sending it pretty close to after the wedding, I think it will be fine. They also probably know that the item was back-ordered when they did the order, so I think it’s fine to wait!

I would wait. Depending on what it is..sometimes things are back ordered and then back ordered some more and then cancel on the stores end (i’ve had it happen for christmas presents before). I know this probably won’t be the case, but better safe than sorry 🙂

I think it’s best to wait, as long as you send the Thank You note promptly after you get it. It would be awkward if you send it earlier, and then the gift didn’t arrive or was sold out or something. Plus, I wouldn’t think it was rude or weird at all to receive a Thank You a couple of months after the wedding.
