pumpkinwaffle :  I have learned recently that you dont HAVE to spend holidays with family. My family, i love them, but some can be….well like everyone elses family i guess.

The Thanksgiving and christmas we were able to spend by ourselves was probably one of the best. I dont mind spending it with family, but if it is going to cause drama, anxiety, worry, stress etc. NOPE.

If your parents dont want him around, then either spend with his family or just the two of you.

Nope, I wouldn’t go at all. Hubby would never ask me to go to a family event where I’m unwelcome, and vice versa. Consider spending the holidays with just the two of you. We did that one year shortly after moving in together, and it was so nice not to worry about traveling. We’ve tried to reclaim the joyful attitude of the holidays in the past couple of years that we had lost from feeling obligated to travel and see as many people as possible, and now we’re actually excited for the holidays this year.

Life’s too short to waste every holiday season pandering to people who don’t treat you or your SO with respect. Do what makes you happy!
