@reebee:  What an excellent idea for the toss bouquet!  One comes in my floral package and I’ve been wondering what to do with it… though, the longest married couple at my wedding will include an old grouchy aunt no one likes!

I can’t imagine anyone would tease you about it…I mean, why would they? You tease people about things that are funny or embarrassing; this is just one wedding choice out of many. If people ask why you didn’t do it, just say that you don’t like them. Of if you want to be a little sassy, say you prefer your husband feel you up in private, rather than in front of your family. ๐Ÿ˜‰

The generations dance is what we decided to replace it with.

We’re playing cheek to cheek (Ella Fitzgerald version) and the longest married couple will have their first dance wedding song played for just the two of them to dance to. We also got a nice vintage champagne to present them with after their dance and my bouquet.

Just be glad the medieval “bedding of the bride” doesn’t happen anymore! All the men at the wedding pick you up and carry you the your bedroom while stripping you naked, yeah, naked, while the ladies do the same with your new husband, they then plunk you guys in bed listen in and make sure the marriage is consumated…then display the sheets…um…yeah no.

I got so much flack for not wanting to do it that I added it back in.  It wasn’t a big enough deal to me either way to disappoint so many people who apparently love that oddly archaic tradition lol.

We did it, and Darling Husband surprised me by pulling out items from under the chair while his head was under my dress, chips and eating them, dirty granny panties, maxi pads and a newborn baby doll…lol! With that being said, don’t do anything you don’t want to do! It’s all in your style, I personally loved his little skit, as did everyone else, nut that’s our personality. I skipped out on other things during the day because they were not our style. I doubt anyone would even notice if you didn’t do it ๐Ÿ™‚

I’m wearing a garter but we’re not doing a garter toss or a bouquet toss. We don’t like them as guests and we certainly don’t want them at our own wedding.

We’re planning to do a bouquet and garter toss — but just a prop garter. Fiance isn’t burrowing under my skirts in front of our friends, family and colleagues! We’re also going to attach $10 Amazon gift cards to the toss bouquet and garter to give our not-crazy-to-get-married single guests a reason to actually want to participate. ๐Ÿ˜‰

We’re doing it–primarily to give Fiance a reason to play “Another one bites the dust” and to make everyone laugh–it somehow always makes people laugh.  I think it’ll be fun!

But, I totally get why it’s degrading and all that.  I just choose to ignore that part. Wink

We’re not doing either. I don’t feel like embaressing myself or my friends. And once I googled the history of the garter, I was under NO circumstances doing it!

I’m not going to do this either! My mom already bought me one but hopefully she won’t notice the night of lol… My Fiance feels really uncomfortable with the whole thing (his grandparents will be there) and I honestly can’t imagine being groped in front of my dad or grandfather either… and there are maybe 5 single guys (all FI’s friends in their early-mid 20s) and like 3 single girls who will all be 19-20 years old… AWKWARD

we didnt do the garter, but did the bouquet.  Confused some of the guys, but no big deal.  We were gonna skip both, but our venue does the bouquet toss off the balcony of the mansion its at just before the grand exit, so that was cute.  PLUS i got to make a toss bouquet of my paper flowers so that was appriciated.

@BetterSherm:  my brother and SIL skipped the garter toss but did the bouquet toss. Do whatever you like!

Ive always been a fan of the garter because I think its funny to see the look on the brides face. Its always different!
