Have been using NFP as contraception, no pregnancies so far!

Used NFP, got pregnant when we were trying not to

We used NFP, then decided to get pregnant, and resumed NFP for contraception after baby.

I’ve been using the Fertility Awareness Method basaed on “Taking Charge of Your Fertility” for the past 2.5 years and no pregnancies so far! I’ll admit, we’ve been very casual about the rules because we both really want a baby, we were just trying to wait a little longer. By casual, I mean half-hearted charting and just pulling out during our fertile phase rather than abstaining or using condoms. But it totally worked! If you are really adamant about preventing though, definitely follow the rules in the book to a T.

This is the first cycle we’re officially TTC so it will be really really interesting to see “how fertile” I actually am.

    Good luck with everything!

I’ll echo others who love TCOYF, as well as encouraging your to look into a copper IUD.  Talk to your doc about why Mirena was painful, and whether you’d have the same problem with paragard.  I too disliked hormones, but liked paragard.  I’ve charted in the past, but never enough to be totally 100% accurate and put all my trust in it.  I just started charting again just to see what is happening with me as we think about when we should start TTC, and although it’s only been a few days, I’m already sick of sticking a thermometer in my mouth when I’m half asleep and just want to hit snooze.

My sister is a nurse, which one would think means she has a greater understanding of the human body.  I told her all about TCOYF, and she and her husband used NFP.  Which led to the conception and birth of my adorable nephew.  She then got the copper IUD.

I have similar issues.  I get migraines with ANY estrogen.  I tried mirena, and was dealing with a lot of side effects until it expelled with the help of my menstrual cup. 🙁  I had the paragard reinserted, and DH said I was such a different person with the mirena that he is very against me getting another one.  I am having wicked periods with the paragard (bleeding through everything) for the past six months and not getting much better.  My plan is if this doesn’t get better, to try the implanon.  I would look into the implanon and the paragard if I were you.  Good luck!
