Remember a couple of weeks ago, when I posted this thread asking for opinions as to what type of stone:
Well, I thought I would post a little bit of a follow-up thread because my ring arrived today! (Always an exciting thing — whee!!) I ended up going with the London Blue Topaz. And now, after seeing this beautiful stone in a step-cut, I think I might have a new favorite gemstone. My gosh — it’s such a pretty color. And I love the ring! I was a little worried about the setting when I ordered. Even though I thought it was beautiful, I thought it kind of erred on the clunky side in the computer images on Gemvara’s site. Having seen it in person now, I don’t think there is anything clunky about this ring. The design work on the sides and the basket is so pretty and feels very open and delicate to me.
Here’s a quick picture. Not the greatest, since it’s already dark here. I’m hoping for some decent light tomorrow so that I can see the pretty blue in the topaz. Right now, it’s looking like a moody teal, which is still lovely. I tried to get some of the side detailing in here.
Thanks again to all the bees who helped me decide on the stone. And for anyone considering the Acadia ring — Go for it!!

alabamagirl: vhenke1: vanessa1359: Thanks! I’ve been anxiously awaiting its arrival for a couple of weeks, so I was really excited when it arrived yesterday. I’m so happy I decided to order it. I fell in love with the setting at first sight, and the stone is so, so pretty. I was thinking yesterday that this setting would make a beautiful ERing, too. I was thinking about getting it sized down so that it could be a “stand in”, but then realized that would mean I wouldn’t wear it as often. So I changed my mind quickly.
I managed to get some better pictures today! So, here’s a little bit of picture overload. But I really wanted to show the side and the ring profile a little better.

vhenke1: MoonAndStars: MrsPierce2014: Thanks so much! I agree that the color is so pretty. I think London Blue Topaz has become one of my favorite gemstones. It’s so beautiful and fairly affordable, too. A huge double bonus — woot!
I think the color looks so much better in the pictures from today. I was happy that i had a little bit of sunlight for them.

longtimemrs: that is stunning! It really is! The color just glows and the gracefulness of the setting make it a standout. It looks fantastic on you. Wear her in good health 🙂

Strawberryshmoo: GirlyGirl24: Thank you both so much! I am in love with the stone in this ring. It is really pretty, particularly in the light. The second set of photos, while natural light, weren’t taken on a sunny day. I was surprised that the stone was such a pretty blue even on a cloudy day. And I was super happy with the setting. It’s much more graceful and delicate looking than I expected from the computer generated pictures. I think I still kind of suck at “translating” those into real life in my head. LOL
