Unless you’re douching with the bath water, I don’t see how it could? Everything I’ve heard about baths and fertility has to do with testicles/heat. In our case, after no luck in TTC for 7 months, DH quit taking hot baths. He’s a hot bath lover, and takes one a day in normal times (he’s taken up to three in one day on the weekend, lol). In month 8, we added in some supplements, and month 9 we conceived. Miscarried at 6 weeks, but he’d only taken a few baths in that time period, and we conceived again right away. Now he’s back to enjoying hot baths again.

I have never heard of this, and I seriously doubt that it would be true. I feel like its the same principle behind the “you can get pregnant from a swimming pool” myth.. I don’t think bath/pool water can go up inside your uterus just from sitting in it?

I’ve heard that you shouldn’t take hot baths or showers during pregnancy, but I think this has more to do with raising your own body temperature. The only thing I’ve heard about sperm and heat is that heat may impair sperm production.

I mean, our own bodies send out soldiers to kill the sperm as well as the torturous journey of actually getting to the egg.

Bath water is the least of their worries.

@tm6173:  Myth. I literally had a bath the morning after my daughter was conceived.

It’s one of those old wives tales I think.

Hot water can impair sperm production for a man or raise core body temperature for a person, but neither of those things should have much of an effect on sperm already inside a woman. And bath water typically does not enter the vagina, so that shouldn’t be an issue, either.
