Haha! Do I have a story for you!
When I was growing up, I assumed I would go to college (I did), meet a guy and fall in love (I did), and get married a year or two after graduation at age 23 or 24 (I did NOT!)
My college boyfriend and I broke up less than a year after we graduated, and that turned out to be a VERY GOOD thing. He was a nice young man, but he absolutely was not the one for me. Likewise, I was not the woman for him.
I spent the next many years discovering more about and growing significantly in my relationship and walk with God and becoming the person God intended me to become before I ever met my future husband.
I had NO earthly idea that God’s timing and mine would be SO dramatically different, but I learned so much through all of the experiences I had in my life as I focused on my relationship with God, the ongoing development of my career, and my amazing friendships.
I then met and became engaged to a fantastic, wonderful (can’t say enough great things about him or his fabulous family) guy when I was 29, and we planned our wedding for the summer that I turned 30. Unfortunately, as we moved forward with our wedding-planning process, I eventually realized that, as wonderful a person as my former Fiance was and is, he also was NOT God’s choice of a husband for me.
Through many, many tears, I did one of the two hardest things I have ever done in my life, and I ended that relationship and canceled that wedding.
I had no idea that it would take an additional 15.5 years before God would bring my DH into my life. Once again, this certainly was not MY choice of timing; however, it was indeed God’s perfect timing, and, at the age of 47, I walked down the ailse and married my DH!
He was worth the wait!
