@Treejewel19:  Can’t say I’ve ever experienced that in my few years of running.

Although, there was this one time I was 1mi into a 5mi run and had to poop SO BAD. Maybe the worst run of my life. I tried to fake out my running buddy so I could poop in the woods. He forgot his gps and didn’t want to mess up his time and run ahead of me. Needless to say, I was  so relieved to make it back to the park station 🙂

I’ve never had this happen, but I’m definitely more aware of having to go when I go running. I always try to go before I leave so I don’t even have to think about it. But I’m nowhere near running marathon distance yet, so maybe it’s something I have to look forward to!

I’ve had the urge before, but never had an ‘incident’ though.  It only happens when I run very, very hard for a considerable length of time.  To be honest, I’ve been running for a long enough time that I’ve more or less figured out what to eat, when to eat it, and when to do my pre-race poopie.

@Treejewel19:  Actually, now that I think about it. The only time I remember that happening to me was when I finished my first half marathon. As I crossed the finish line, I immediately tried looking for a portapotty. I thought Iwas doomed because iI couldn’t find any. Then a couple minutes later, the feeling was all gone. I just walked it off and felt great afterwards.

@Treejewel19:  they call it the oopsie poopsies.

happens to a lot of longer distance runners.

i never had this problem.  but i do start to fart around mile 4 when i run.  i attribute it to sucking in too much air and it having nowhere else to go.

Haha, that article was SO funny.

This doesn’t happen to me from running itself – but once during a half marathon I hadn’t given myself enough time beforehand to let my coffee work its magic.  So at about mile 6, I had to POOOOOP!  Luckily they had portapotties set up.  But that was purely a coffee effect.

I knew there was a reason I decided to simply walk my first 5k

@Treejewel19:  Yep– it happens all of the time. I can do 8 miles at night will no caffine in 10 hours and no food for 6. Otherwise I will run into a store. In the morning I normally have to stop between 1 and 5 miles in. Then I am good for another 15. Hopefully in a porta potty, not in a bush!

Oh, and mine aren’t false alarms. I have .5 miles and then it is coming. In my pants or elsewhere, it is ciming.

Sadly, it’s true…  I don’t drink coffee in the morning if I have an am run for this very reason, and I tend to notice it more when I haven’t run regularly in a while and start back again for training purposes.

Yeah it’s happened to me (that very strong urge) but I haven’t actually had an accident yet (though I think I’ve come really close and had to walk most of the last few miles because I didn’t have anywhere to go).

It definitely doesn’t happen to me every time I run though, it’s only happend a handful of times in my years that I can think of.  I always try to go before I go out running.  FWIW I don’t think it’s ever happened if it’s only 3 miles/5k distance.  Usually it’s been on longer runs (6-7 miles and above) and I’ve never done more than a half marathon.

Never heard of this nor experienced it and I’ve done lots of 5 K, gotta go run now actually but am procrastinating.  If I had this I probably wouldn’t run.  It sounds aweful.

HA I’ve never heard of it called the gingerbread now but yeah it definitely happens. I’ve never really had an issue for 5ks it’s more 5+ miles. Once on a run with my then only boyfriend (now husband) I LITERALLY almost shit myself. I had to stop and just stand there clenching, looking frantically for where I could pull my pants down without anyone seeing. I was able to hobble to a park bathroom finally but wow.

That is one of, if not THE only times I’ve ever felt it that bad though, other times its just a need to go. Don’t worry, happens to most runners at some point!
