I would wait, you still have plenty of fertile years ahead. When I was in my mid 20’s and got baby fever I got a kitten so I recommend that lol.

I already have two dogs…
Husband wants to get our finances in order more, so no babies in the next two years.

Fellow dog mom!
I had a dog at the time too. I just wanted a little baby to love lol And a kitten seemed easier than a puppy at the time so kitten it was.

i don’t mean this to be snarky at all, but from one professional musician to another, this is a pretty terrible time for our industry job-wise, stability-wise, and pretty much any other way you can think of it. I’m not sure specifically what your DMA is in, but if it’s performance and you aren’t 100% sure of a reliable source of income post graduation (for instance, a robust private teaching studio of 25-30 steady and long term students so your income isn’t concentrated from 1 unreliable source) i would definitely wait. Also everyone i know who did a DMA said it took at least 3 years, often 4-5 depending on their concert requirements. I would probably wait until you are nearing the end and try then. Having kids is tough, you’d need to have them in full time care I’m guessing to be able to complete your requirements. From one exhausted musician-mama – wait until you are in your last year (unless you have fertility concerns, i suppose)
