I started off reading the BSC Little Sister books when those first came out, switched over to BSC shortly after. My sister was still getting the Little Sister ones, so I kept up with both for quite a while, although I would have to wait until she was done. I remember when I first swapped over being really confused trying to make sense of the relationships from another perspective. Ie. Karen had a step mom in the house where Kristy lived, whereas it was Kristy’s step dad there. I think it was my first introduction to step parents, that were’t the evil stepmom fairlytale stuff.
I was into the Sweet Valley stuff too. Started with Sweet Valley Kids I think it was. I remember really loving the University series for a while. Short lived I think, but I devoured lots of the books in short time frame.
I remember the Sweet Valley tv show, and the BSC show. Sweet Valley I watched regularly although I don’t think it lasted long. BSC was available too late – I was already watching for the ‘nostalgia’ aspect just because I used to love the books.
I like RL Stine, but it was Fear Street and his non-series books. I read a few Goosebumps books, but didn’t enjoy them, they felt too juvenille to me by the time they were published. I do remember people in my grade being really insterested and I was like why? Fear Street was way scarier.
