… was to postpone our wedding for another year, so we can be financially comfortable to throw the kind of wedding we want, without help from our parents, and STILL have money in the bank for a rainy day.
I can’t help but feel SO good about ourselves every single day. I LOVE knowing that when we do plan our (not large, but as all weddings seem to be, still pretty pricey for one day) wedding, we will be able to comfortably afford to go and have fun nights out, go to restaurants, have spontaneous road trips, and just enjoy being engaged!
At first, it seemed that people all Expected a wedding a year after the engagement at most, not two, as we’re planning. But once we made the decision together, it really seemed that everybody was in our corner.
Yay for long engagements!!

Good for you to doing it the smart way! And now you have time to do more DIY, hopefully saving yourself some money 🙂

Two years isn’t really a long engagement anyway. I’d say it was pretty much the end of a “normal” time or the very lowest end of long if anything. Sounds great, well done to you guys.

Hooray! Can I say, that at this moment I am totally jelous of your decision to have a long engagement (which isn’t that long btw, but totally normal in my group of friends). FH insisted that we schedule our Destination Wedding four months after getting engaged. And I have wanted to punch him in the head every day since…

@PinkPandaBear: LOL! Yep, I think if someone were to tell me that we’d have to get married 4 months after our engagement, I’d just lock myself in a room until they promised never to scare me again. I can’t even imagine– how? Venue? Caterer? Flowers? The mind… it boggles.
