EDIT: This accidentally posted to “waiting” but has nothing at all to do with waiting. SORRY! The best planning advice that a perfectionist like me could have eer gotten…came from my caterer, believe it or not! We finalized the menu and budget and at the end of our meeting, she says, “I know you’re not asking for advice or anything, but here it is:’There’s a ton of stuff to plan, but trust your taste. Once you make a decision, stick with it and stop looking–move on to the next thing on your list.” I think it made a lot of sense to me because for the last couple of weeks, I’ve spent COUNTLESS hours in the car, online, in stores, talking to vendors about every single aspect of this wedding. One example: I’d see a great idea for escort cards….then spend another 2 hours looking at every single escort card ever made…and next thing I knew, I had spent nearly 3 days obsessing over escort cards just to learn that I liked my original choice the best! Another example: One day calla lillies are the most beautiful amazing flowers in the entire world…the next morning, it’s orchids, the morning after that, it’s tulips. Then, when my flower choice changes, so does the color scheme, table cloths, favors, etc…and then before I know it, I’d spent 3 weeks on every single wedding website and looked at every single picture frantically searching for some inspiration–just to end up with absolutely no planning progress whatsoever!
I’m sure this doesn’t apply to every aspect of every bride’s wedding, but I figured I’d pass it along, hoping it helps someone else. I started this process with absolutely NO PLAN, no checklist, no theme, no color scheme. Let’s just say that now, I actually have a checklist but as for theme, color scheme and plan…I’m going to just enjoy the process, go with the flow, and see what develops ;). It’s worked out well so far, and surprisingly, things are actually coordinating quite well!
