A few days ago, I happened to stumble upon the website of the bridal store where I purchased my wedding dress. I put a 50% deposit back in September and was told to expect arrival in April 2009. On the front page of the site it says "Closing sale everything 55% off". I was in shock and immediately called the store. The lady says they plan to close the doors on December 19th. I was upset that they hadn’t notified me because it’s already almost Thanksgiving given their closing date. I wasn’t mad at them because I understand how hard the economy is but a heads up would have been nice. When I put the deposit on my dress the veil I wanted wasn’t available so I drove 30 – 45 min. (with traffic) to the store to get some reassurance on my dress and get my veil. I did get my veil for 55% off! I was able to speak with the owners daughter, who runs the store. Even though I asked many questions, receive the letter that was suppose to be sent to me and was explained what will happen to my dress. I’m still a little stumped, worried and nervous for my dress…
The daughter is moving to Arizona, gave me her new home address and her cell phone number. She also mentioned that her parents are having a hard time contacting the designers. Which that scares me! My dress can go either two ways; to the daughters home in Arizona and ships it to me or to another bridal store in town that carries Maggie Sottero and I can deal with them.
Is there anything else that I can do or ask them of how to assure myself that I will get my dress from these people?
