After a number of disappointing trips to used/consignment as well as new wedding dress boutiques, I struck gold at The Brides Project in Ann Arbor. This location has been written about once before but I wanted to chime in as well.
The Brides Project sells used wedding dresses donated by brides and new and sample wedding dresses donated by designers and boutiques. The prices are almost all under $1000. All the profits go to a local agency that helps faces deal with cancer.
I had an amazing experience with TBP. I ended up with a sample Amsale gown (that I had previously fallen in love with but knew was thousands out of my budget). The consultants were all so warm and friendly and un-pushy.
Although most dresses aren’t from big name designers, the more that TBP is getting press, the more donations they are getting from designers. When I was there last week, they told me they had 100 brand new Enzoani gowns on the way (not too shabby!).
If you live in the area and are trying to stay on a tight budget, I highly reccomend TBP. And if you’re looking for something charitable to do with your dress once you’re wed, keep them in mind!
