My first budget is long gone.

At first I thought $5000 max. Then it edged up a little and I was thinking maybe $7000, tops.

Last night I entered everything into a spreadsheet and the grand total, minus wedding rings and honeymoon is…

about $10,800. Including rings and honeymoon it will be about $14000.

That’s for a Sunday evening dinner party reception for 40.

Yikes!

We started at $25K. It will be around $30K…not including the honeymoon. Not sure where you live, but throwing a weddigng for 280 people for $20K might be difficult. Good luck!

taywerx13 :  My parents gave us $30k so we planned to stick to the budget and pay for our honeymoon on our own.  We decided together on a honeymoon budget of $5k, and blew it.  I believe we ended up spending a little over $35k on the wedding and nearly $10k on the honeymoon but it was our dream trip and we have no regrets.  We spent a lot of time researching realistic budgets for our area, so I think it helped that we didn’t have crazy expectations going in.  Good luck sticking to your budget!

ETA: This was the cost for ~110 guests.  We were lucky all 160 weren’t able to attend or we would have completely blown our budget.

Budget for $35K and about $15K for honeymoon. While planning I realize that some items I want to be spendy and some thrifty which actually lowered the actual wedding/reception to $20K.

Honeymoon fund stays at $15K cause of flights, hotels, food/shopping.

When I first got engaged I just figured everyone spends around 10k. If you include all our rings and hotel rooms and helping guests with flights, honeymoon, welcome dinner, we’ll be over 60k for 50 guests. There’s not really a budget though, we’ve just worked out each cost as it comes up, and then saved up a couple weeks for each one. That’s the benefit of a 2 year engagement though. We dont even know the real total until the bill for the open bar shuts down at 2am.

We were hoping to keep our wedding at 30k it’s looking closer to 35k so we’re not doing too bad. The fact that I blew the budget on my dress didn’t help but no regrets there.

We wanted to spend 15K on the wedding but ended up spending around 18K for 81 guests.

Our honeymoon we estimated 10K and we’re pretty much bang one once we tallied things up when we got home.

taywerx13 :  my mom paid for my dress and said max $1500… lol my dress is $2000 without alterations so it’s probably going to cap around $2500 but the store I bought my dress from is throwing in a veil, headpiece and garter as part of a special package they have going.

I started hoping for a budget of $15k for 200 in SoCal on a Saturday…that went out the window real fast, even with cutting our guestlist by 50 people.  We’re now at about 25k, not including honeymoon embarassed
