our original budget was 25K, but once we started getting quotes from vendors it shot up to $40k for 130 people, not including rings or honeymoon. We haven’t had our wedding yet, so we’re just estimating if everyone says yes. It could potentially come down depending on how many declines we get.

We started at 12k. It’s going to be closer to 15k. Not too bad still.

Well ideally I wanted $2000 lol but realalisticly we decided on $10,000. And now I have completely lost track of how much we have spent and what we owe. I would guess its at about $14,000

We estimated approx 13k for the wedding and 15k for the honeymoon. Our wedding is now approx 17k and still exactly 15k for honeymoon. Keeping wedding costs under control has been really hard as the sky really is the limit when it comes to weddings. But we are paying for it all ourselves so  we’re trying our best to stick to budget. I think the problem is that for certain things we were waaayyy unrealistic with the costs hence the increase.

Budgeted $20,000 originally for the wedding not including rings or honeymoon. I plugged everything into a spreadsheet this weekend and it came in at a little over $21k so not far off the mark – we could have easily stayed in budget had we not opted for an extra hour of the bar and music and skipped one of the two favors. Total guest count is 119. Honeymoon is about another $7-8K with airfare, hotel, activities and food.

here’s our budget for those interested.

Hm… I think we originally hoped to spend $5,000. But we would’ve had to make a lot of compromises. I think our wedding will end up costing approx. 10k- 12k? Not counting honeymoon. We decided early on to focus on the wedding, go away somewhere close, and go on a big vacation later on.

taywerx13 :  our budget was $30k not including honeymoon. Spent $25k and because the reception venue’s air conditioner was faulty for the first 2 hrs and we complained they refunded $2k to us. So ended up spending abouT $23k… Spent around $3-4k on honeymoon.

We only invited very very close people and didnt invite not so close relos. Kept it at 48 ppl all up.

Cutting the guest list was the best thing ever. We had our wedding at shangri la hotel, had the best flowers (phalaenopsis orchids and david austen roses etc)in tall vases, absolutely beautiful and elegant, had a photographer and videographer – bascially did everything that expensive weddings have and managed to keep it under $25k(this is including bridesmaids shoes dresses, bonding session with the bridal party, gifts etc).

When i tell friends how much we spent they get shocked at how little it cost us. If we invited over 100 people, we would have had to spend a lot more or have to sacrifice flower quality, give up on videographer, and additional decor and lighting to keep it closer to the budget.

taywerx13 :  Haha. We oringally were thinking a real budget wedding at 5-10k. As soon as we started looking into it we realized that 10k would be food and booze alone. We both have large families and cutting the list just wasn’t really an opition so we went up to $15. We’re still finalizing things but I wouldn’t be surpirsed if we hit 20 :-(. All the little things we hadn’t thought about are adding up, brunch for everyone in the bridal party staying on the proper the day or and after, cake platter, hair and makeup is turning out to be way more than I anticpated. Hopefully 15K but we’ll see… We are paying for it but Future Mother-In-Law offered to pay for our honeymoon so we have to plan that!

We originally planned for under 25K. By the time it is all said and done, I think we will probably spend between 15K and 17K although I haven’t been keeping track on a spreadsheet. This doesn’t include our honeymoon, which hopefully we will be able to do for about 7K.

My parents gave me a budget to stick to- which *I* did, but they did not… ha. Final costs were over double what I was initially given.

However, I planned the honeymoon solo and came in under budget!

We were hoping to spend $10,000 CAD (which is like 7,000 USD right now :()We invited 100 people but expecting maybe 80? We live in a big city so people told us it’s impossible but we are on budget. I never really dreamed of a crazy wedding and I found a lot of ways to cut the budget ($5000 dream dress I bought from a girl in my city for $600 for example) This does not include my engagement ring or honeymoon though.

Im trying to decide on Honeymoon right now! We might do a mini moon and a bigger trip later cause Fiance just got a promotion and we have two other weddings this summer.

Originally we thought around $10K-$13K. So far it looks around $20K-$25K. We said that back in April though. Since then, my parents decided to help with about $7000, and FI’s parents about $5000 and they each gave us their ideas and guest list, it grew from there. Fiance also got an amazing job since we first got engaged and is making triple what he was at his old job, so I’m not too worried about it.

taywerx13 :  I started thinking 15k would do. But we got married in NYC so everything is much more expensive! In the end we ended up paying ~22k which is not that far off (that’s excluding rings+honeymoon which were on a separate budget). We were planning on paying everything ourselves but our families ended up gifting us 13k.
