This might be cheating since we were on vacation in London, but I would have to say that our best date was eating at this little Lebanese restaurant we stumbled across in the Soho district, then going to see Wicked at a theater. The Dude isn’t really into musicals, so he did this totally for me. It was a wonderful night! Our dates these days are few and far between, since we have an almost-one-year-old! Right now it sounds like the ultimate dream to get out and see a movie–any movie! Maybe one of these days…

@Mrs. Mouse: Our best date was my surprise weekend to Minneapolis on October 18th of this year. We had been married a year and three months. Darling Husband had been planning this trip for 6 months and even took off work for me (he contacted my boss directly and worked it out with her). I woke up to a breakfast of french toast, eggs, and bacon and was told that I wasn’t going to work. I was absolutely shocked, especially since earlier that week I was saying how I didn’t want to work on Friday since he didn’t have to. Darling Husband had made out a list of everything I needed to bring, including two secret envelopes that I couldn’t open until he said so.
I had no idea where we were going until we got there, but we made it to Minneapolis and that night I got to open the first envelope and it was Ticket to the musical Wicked! The biggest surprise came Saturday, which is exactly what he had been planning for 6 months. First he took me to Mall of America and let me get whatever I wanted and later that evening took me to Cheesecake Factory to eat. I got to open envelope #2, and it was tickets to see my favorite singer, Josh Groban! Not only did I get to see Josh Groban, but I got to sit 3 rows from the floor/VIP section! I was so excited I was jumping and screaming in the parking ramp, lol.I mellowed out enough to walk myself into the Target Center, get a few tshirts, and enjoy a wonderful concert.
It was an absolute blast, and I couldn’t imagine a more perfect and wonderful weekend with my husband.

Does our one-year anniversary count?! Haha! We had such a crazy, busy year and we never really do dates, but for our first anniversary my father, who was visiting us, insisted we get out of town rather than spend the day with him (because that would have been sorta weird…) so we went out to a swanky hotel and restaurant, where we got to eat delicious food and enjoy a king-sized bed. Of course I was super pregnant at the time so just being able to go in a bathtub was spectacular for me — we were in the middle of house renovations and I hadn’t been able to use a nice bathroom in at least a month!

Our best date so far was on a crisp fall day when we went out to a steam museum on the border of Indiana and Michigan. We rode on a little model train through the grounds to see the leaves changing colors and all their little hokey Halloween decorations, and we had hot chocolate and it was so cute and fun! Afterwards we took a leap and went to the nearby casino and won $10 off of 25cents LoL (we are not big gamblers at all, obviously). Then to top it all off, Darling Husband bought me some new sharpies. Hehe. It was a perfect fall date!

We’ve only been married a little over a month…but on our one month anniversary Darling Husband was waiting for me to get off the train from work, walked me to the car door, opened it and flowers were waiting on the seat for me. We then went to dinner (which I knew was happening). When we came home he had spread rose petals all over the bed in our bedroom. He rarely ever does things like this, so this was honestly the best date in a long time! We were saving money for over 2 years for our house and wedding, so it was really nice to have that at home 🙂

The movies! It was our first date since becoming parents – I haven’t wanted to leave the baby for too long. We had a typical, cheesy movie date, with popcorn & slushies.. and since it was a ‘boring old couple’ date at a ‘boring old couple’time of 10am on a Sunday morning, we had the whole theatre to ourselves!

I think our best date since we’ve been married happened the day I flew into Rome to visit him during his study abroad.
That night, we went out with some of his friends and after gong to dinner, we all bought a few bottles of Prosecco to share… in the street/plaza. (They’re much more lax about drinking in Europe than they are here!)
After we were all feeling a little loose, we started walking toward the Coliseum. I had seen it before but never by night and it is GORGEOUS- I fogot my camera in our room, so this is a quick/crappy phone pic I snapped.
After that, Darling Husband and I kinda started falling behind because we sort of started making out. 😛 We walked around the city a bit more, but it started sprinkling rain, so we headed back to our room. (Which, by the way, had a TWIN bed! It’s definitely a good thing that I was coming off of basically 2-straight days with no sleep because of the international travel, and that I’d had a few drinks, because I’m pretty sure there’s no way I’d have been able to fall asleep with Darling Husband in a bed that small.)
And the rest… is TMI!

This past weekend I took him on a date to see About Time in a theater that serves food and drinks during the movie, and it was really nice! We were total nerds and talking about our “Date” and how I took him out and stuff. Then the next night he took me out to a nice dinner and then drinks at a fancy little bar. We don’t go out like that much, so two nights in a row was such a treat!

- Wedding: August 2013 - An amazing non-profit retreat
Earlier this month for a fundraising gala/event where we got dressed up and enjoyed dinner and drinks. We had great conversation and ended up going home early for some Too Much Information action involving ties and garter belts.
Thursday night this week we decided to do dinner and a movie. Nothing fancy, nothing hot and sexy, it was just a nice way to break up the week!

We’ve only been married for a couple of months, but I think our best ‘date’ thus far was the weekend trip we took to Chicago for Mr. Plane’s birthday a few weeks ago. It was fun to stay in a hotel (first time since our honeymoon) and splurge on some really amazing restaurants. Most of all, it was fun to just roam around the city, hand in hand with my husband!

Not to toot my own horn, but I think I planned one of our best dates to date! I used “Time Out NY” to plan based on the events going on that day. I scored free tickets for admission to the Intrepid Museum, an awesome NYC attraction but is very expensive and has long lines. We spent a few hours exploring the ships and submarine. Next, we walked to a pie-tasting contest. For a few dollars each, we bought entry fees and voting tickets and were treated to DELICIOUS handmade pies by small local bakers. We took a long walk around the city before heading to dinner at an old standby Mexican restaurant that we had frequented in college (delicious as always) and then went to Washington Square for the evening entertainment. I had gotten wind that there was a flashmob event being organized by newmindspace (they organize outdoor community pillow fights and more) and we had to be part of it. What ensued was an epic light saber battle and entertainment for hours! We had a great time exploring all that the city has to offer, found great deals, and spent a day together – what could be better!

I think my favorite date since we’ve been married (a whole month!) was the Friday after Thanksgiving. We spent the weekend in Gainesville, Florida, where Mr. Bicycle went to school (University of Florida) since that was the weekend of the UF/FSU game. We had an AMAZING dinner at Mark’s Prime Steakhouse and then went to a bar called Lillian’s, which I have heard so much about from all my friends who went to UF. It was nice seeing more of his college town than I usually get to when we are just in town for tailgating and the game.

My favorite date was one where I surprised Mr. H. I told him we were going to have a date, but didn’t tell him where we were going or what we were doing. I took him to this cute little bar that he hadn’t been to before, and we had drinks and shared some parmesan fries. Some weird sporting event was playing on the bar TVs, so we had fun commentating!
