I had no idea it was going to happen, I was so shocked I didn’t even really believe him

I didn’t! I should’ve guessed because in hindsight he was acting weird. But I always wanted it to be a surprise, and he knew that, so it was!

He was acting so nervous! He’d been acting weird all day, but nothing happened until we headed out for dinner and he suggested we take a walk around the lake first. We sat down on a pair of rocking chairs and he looked at me and said “Soooo how are you?” I asked him if he was feeling okay because he’d never asked me that before, ever. He told me he was feeling okay, and that’s when he asked!

@Mrs. Mouse:  My way of finding out Fiance was going to propose was sneaky…. and genius. I had expressed to him that I would love him to use my great-aunt’s old generation diamond center stone to keep it in the family (and save money lol). I knew he kept the diamond in our safe. The curiosity was killing me; I would periodically check to see if it was still there… and lo and behold, after a few months… the diamond was gone! I knew he had gone to get it custom set. And he proposed two weeks later! He had no idea I had been checking the safe Wink

Many, many reasons! The first was I walked in on him and my father having a discussion before we were engaged and they quickly stopped with my dad saying “we will talk later” – this was to arrange a time to meet so he could ask my parents to marry me.

Second – he told me that he had asked my parents!

Third – he told me that he was plannning on doing it within the next month.

Fourth – it was our penultimate time seeing each other before the final time before his own deadline…and I knew he really wanted to go to the County Show that day (he wouldn’t propose there!)

It was still a bit of a surprise though!

I had zero idea until he actually got down on one knee.  Then it clicked that it was happening.

We went on an epic motorcycle trip, across Canada on the same bike doing 10-hour driving days every day. I was actually the one that suggested it that winter (WTF was I thinking?!) and Mr. D started making comments about how if that was the kind of thing I could commit to, it was getting serious.

And then he started blatantly sending me links to jewelry like, “Do you like this?” before the trip. So that was sort of an obvious hint. 😉 However! We argued pretty much throughout the entire bike trip because it was so, so stressful, so I thought all bets were off until he was actually proposing!

About 3 months before he proposed, he started talking much more about our future together. He wanted us to start looking at houses to buy and talked about merging our finances. One day in conversation, we were talking about a friends engagement ring, and I asked if he even had any idea how much a diamond cost. I asked in passing really, not really expecting him to say yes. When he answered that he knew not only about pricing but also about the cut, I knew for sure it was coming soon.

I had a bit of an inkling, since Mr. Jaguar was planning a big birthday weekend away for me – he’s never been a big planner for birthdays, so this was definitely different. He ended up proposing in Prague, after a dinner cruise along the river. I was grumpy at the time, as my sandal had broken & my camera wasn’t working properly, so was NOT in the right mindset for anything romantic – until I turned around and he was down on one knee!
