I prepared an emergency kit to have with me, and then forget it on my steps before leaving the house! Luckily I didn’t end up needing anything from it!

  • I forgot to tell the photographer to get a shot of the invitation. I had it there all pretty and everything!
  • Forgot to write my husband a sweet note. Huge fail.

That’s it! That being said, tt took me 3 weeks to pack for the day-of!

I planned for the girls and I to have food while getting ready (thanks to my wonderful aunt who set up a great spread!) but I found out MONTHS after the wedding that Mr. D totally failed to feed his groomsmen. As in, they didn’t eat anything at all until cocktail hour. So one of my brothers-in-law was practically passing out at the altar, and when I dragged them all away from the cocktail hour treats to take pictures, as planned, I had some grumpy groomsmen on my hand. Make sure your partner feeds their people!

Probably a number of things, but what stands out the most is  that in the bustle of everything, I left the marriage license in my bridal suite and totally forgot about it. The room then got cleaned out by some family that night and the license, still unsigned, disappeared for several days. We just found it, signed it, and turned it in yesterday.

As our good friend and officiant said, “The wedding went off without a hitch – but there probably should have been at least one hitch!”

I also woke up in our little cabin at the venue on Sunday morning with literally nothing to wear except my wedding dress.  I had to wander around in my new husband’s giant shorts and shirt looking for my bag of clothes….

I never gave my photographer a photo list. I worked on one, but I ended up just forgeting to igve him one and I ended up missing out on some photos that I would have liked to have, which was completly due to my lack of planning. It’s one of those things I heard a ton of times when reading wedding advice, but I forgot to actually listen to it.
