We were engaged a year after we met. We fell madly in love immediately and knew this was it!

We’ll be married 18 months after we first met.

We dated for a year and I think a month and a half maybe? At least a year and one month.  Tomorrow I will have been engaged for TWO WEEKS!!!!!

It was perfect for us because it gave us a whole year of holidays with each other’s families and him time to graduate (I will graduate May of 14) and get a better job.  He wanted to go into marriage financially stable and able to support me as I finished school.  We were blessed in that he also got his house paid off during the year of dating.  We knew pretty early on where this was headed but wanted time to see each other in all seasons before committing.

We get hitched in January!

We got engaged 13 months after our first date. We both knew exactly what we were looking for and we knew that we had found it. We were ready to be engaged after 3 or 4 months, but we were long-distance in the beginning so we wanted to wait until we had a chance to live in the same town and experience normal life together.

We were dating for about 2.5 years before getting engaged. This worked for us because we wanted to get married about a year after graduating college (to save up).

We dated about 6 and a half years before he proposed, though we’d been talking about “when we’re married” since just a couple of months into our relationship.  We startind dating at the end of highschool and were long distance through undergrad.  We lived together 2.5 years before he proposed (one year grad school, one and a half years “grown up” jobs).  I was starting to get a bit impatient there at the end, but it really i perfect for us – we’re grown up enough now and have some money in savings!

My DH and I dated for seven months before getting engaged and we were married just over a year of meeting.  We knew/felt it was right because there was an instant, soulful, connection from day one.  The more time we spent together the more we just couldn’t imagine our futures with anyone else.

We were dating 2 Years and 9 Months when we got engaged, we were married 5.5 months later.  It was a timeline that worked well for us, but it would have been a little bit shorter if it weren’t for graduate school, which kept us LDR for the last years!

We moved in together the month before the wedding, as soon as I was done with school and could safely quit work!

We dated for 3 years, 8 months before we got engaged. It wasn’t really “perfect” for me, per se, because I was totally ready about a year before he was.

I’m a highly impatient, type-A personality, so waiting for him to be ready to make the leap was hard.

He did, however, make up for things in spades. He told me he wanted to propose (much) earlier, but thought better of it. He’s also been the most amazing fiance – even more attentive, if that is possible – and he is totally ready to make me his wife.

He was also kind of a “late bloomer” – he does everything a little later in life than most – so I have come to terms with that!

We dated for almost 8 years before getting engaged, which was perfect for us because at 40 and 38 we both were back in college.

It was my second time attending and his first and I was getting ready to graduate with my associates degree after 20 years of trying to finish my degree, but always having real life get in my way.

I begin my bachelor program this fall and am finally in a position to be able pay for a wedding!

Everything in both of our lives lead us to each other and I believe “BETTER LATE THAN NEVER!!!”

We’ve known each other for 7 years; dated on and off (twice) within the first year of knowing each other. Officially, we dated 5 years and 5 months before we got engaged. Fiance is actually my first serious boyfriend. I generally didn’t date guys who I don’t see a possibility of having a future with.

I wouldn’t say the timing was perfect as my parents would’ve preferred us married before we bought a house. He obtained my parents’ blessings FOUR years before we got engaged, ha-ha. We bought my engagement ring before we bought the house two years after my parents’ blessings. Otherwise, if we took into account my #1 priority for professional studies and both our career development, the timing is actually quite nice. The timing would also allow us to plan for the wedding while budget for home renovations. It would’ve been stressful to fit all six things within a year.

@TakeTwo:  Same here! That is, if I’m right in guessing he’s proposing this Saturday 😉

It will be within the next 10 days for me, either way!!!!!! That’s when his timeline ends and I know he’s sticking to it.

Dating 1 year 8 1/2 months, living together almost 1 year 3 months, intend to be engaged long enough to get married on our 3rd anniversary 😉

Hmmm.  We began dating in December 2009, and didn’t get engaged until May 2011, so 1.5 years.  This will be the second marriage for each of us.  It was perfect for us, because it was a long enough period of time to really get to know one another.
