Unfortunately you need to make a new account.  After you make the new acount, the easiest thing to do it set it up to forward the old mail to the new one.  This can typically be done in the settings for the old account.  I know you can do it on gmail, not sure about other services.

@Mrs.Mittens: Yeah I made a whole new account. As JoJo Bananas said I’m sure most services you can get your original email account to forward messages onto your new one. I though like having two accounts, I give the original one out to people or organisations I suspect might give me junk mail.

Not to shamelessly plug Google (I don’t work there or anything, I’m just a fan!), but you should consider going with Gmail this time around. It will let you do G Chat and if you’re interested in Google+, it makes everything really streamlined :).

I just checked, and Yahoo will forward your mail for you.  Go to options on the top right menu, then more options.  Select Forwarding & POP on the left, and fill in your new email on the second box down.

@jo.lee: I switched to Google when I changed my name and email address. Best decision ever. Yahoo! mail has gotten progressively worse over the years. I wish that email providers would have a name change functionality because I’ve had my Yahoo account for a decade or more.
