I know it can be frustrating, but just give it some more time. Maybe the priest is on travel or on vacation. You still have some time until your wedding next year. Just try and sit tight. It took me a while to get in touch with someone at my church too.

Try to go to one of the masses your priest is giving and talk to him after mass. The priest is usually available then. Good luck!

I agree with ccflowers.  Go to mass and try to catch the priest afterward.

I know our priest is almost impossible to get in touch with otherwise.  I’ve sent e-mails that have gone unanswered. left him voicemails, etc.  But when I’ve seen him in person he is always helpful.

I’d just pop in. Try going after Mass, my priest stands outside to shake hands, maybe you can corner yours if he does that lol. Or maybe like a weekday afternoon could work when he’s probably likely to be around. I’m sure the priest is busy or something so hang in there, but that does sound really annoying. The church seems like it can get a little frustrating with weddings- I have a feeling they’re not going to marry me, I’m marrying someone Jewish and not having the ceremony inside a church.

We had similar issues dealing with the church we’re getting married in (out of state and different from where we are doing our pre-cana). The secretary wouldn’t take messages, she said we needed to call back when he was in but that she didn’t know when that was…um ok Undecided Then he went out of town, then it was one thing after another and so forth. He wouldn’t respond to emails and it was very frustrating. Once the deadline date got closer FH called continuously until he answered. It took a lot of effort but I don’t think that was the intention, just be patient and keep trying.

A big holiday season just ended, so I would expect everyone has been really busy and are just getting back to normal routine. I would give it another week.

It’s totally worth it to get married in the Church, so don’t give up!

I whole-heartedly agree with the suggestion to go to mass (if that’s at all possible) and try to snag a few minutes with him afterwards.  Our priest was hard to get in touch with for a while, but after Saturday evening mass finally worked for us!

@GreenEyedMoon: My only suggestion is to not use the word “vendor” with a Catholic priest. They do not like to be grouped into the same category as florists and cake bakers, at least that’s what my priest told me! He was also very hard to track down, and I got very frustrated as well. You have to be patient. And always be positive and polite when speaking with the priest. This makes a huge difference!

you say you have been trying for the past 2 weeks – well it has been christmas which would have been super hetic for not only the priest but the people in admin/support so maybe the usual people that handle this stuff is on vacation?

i hope you get it sorted out soon!

We have run into that problem with our church, but its not the Priest who we contact. Our contact is in charge of Baptism and Weddings, and has been undergoing treatment for Breast Cancer. Your best bet is to stop by the office and see if you can catch someome to talk to.

@GreenEyedMoon: any luck after this weekend? After I read your post I called my church immediately and looks like I’m going to have the same issue lol. “The deacon will call you and set up an appointment….” not holding my breath lol.
