Ever since FH gave me my moissanite ring, he’s been very adamant that he wanted to give me a diamond at some point. We were given one of my great grandmother’s diamonds, I found a setting I liked at Zales and FH found someone who would customize it using my great grandmother’s stone and make the rings (it’s a set) in platinum instead of white gold. Excellent. FH’s recently been informed that my rings should be ready in roughly 2 weeks. The closer I get to the new rings getting here, the more attached I get to my original. I never really wanted the upgrade anyway, but I knew that it was something FH desperately wanted. At first, I was really excited about it, but now I feel like I’m going to miss my ring. I planned to reset it into a three stone ring with some gemstone sidestones and move it to my right hand, but I’m still a little sad. Don’t get me wrong, I like the set FH’s having made. It’s going to be smaller than my current ring, but that’s going to be ok because I like smaller rings. Plus, it’s a family stone…
I keep telling myself that I can just buy another band and I will have two different wedding sets now.
Did anyone else that upgraded feel this way? Or am I weird?
ETA: I swear this had paragraphs. Maybe it shows up for you guys…

What if you left your e-ring alone and wore it for traveling? So you’d have your “special” e-ring for trips, and your super-sturdy platinum-and-diamond set for day-to-day!

@BrandNewBride: That’s a good idea. I haven’t completely made up my mind on changing my original ring, but FH and I don’t get to travel very much right now so I wouldn’t get the wear it that often 🙁

i love my ring and get very attached to it, it carries a lot of sentimental memories. i would say keep the old one but it sound like the new onehas heart and soul poured into it as well. Give the new ring a chance. you could fashion the old one into a necklace but i would suggest using it on special occasions so it retains it specialness

@SouthernGirl: you should just leave your original ring as it is and wear it on your right hand

@Sweetie Pie 21: +1, I was going to suggest that. Nothing wrong with a solitaire on your right hand!

I have a diamond engagement ring, but after joining the bee i fell into the hype of moissanites. I wanted a 2ct solitaire for months. I loved my diamond ring, but i was thinking it wasnt my style.
The day i ordered the loose stone i kept feeling more attached to my ring, i cant explain it. When it came in, i didnt really like it and i couldnt imagine not wearing my original. Seeing my disappointment in the moissanite, my husband told me i could get a new diamond ring next year for our anniversary…i told him i dont think i want to now, i have fallen in love with it all over again. Its wierd.
I goT it cleaned tonight and it looks brand new (:

Thanks guys. I think I probably will leave my original ring alone and just wear it on my right hand for now. Eventually I may do something else with it, but after I thought about changing it some more, I just didn’t like the idea.
