The picture on the left: This is me trying on the floor sample, which was a size 10. The consultant clipped the dress in the back to show me what the dress would look like when altered. The dress comes with a halter strap, and she said the seamstress can remove it altogether with no problem. She also assured me that the seamstress would be able to take in the sides so that the dress would have a mermaid shape instead of an A-line, and that the flare would start lower. She said “The seamstress can work magic and do whatever you want.”
The picture on the right: This is me trying on my actual dress in my size 0, which arrived 4 months later. I am wearing a trumpet crinoline slip underneath because the consultant and seamstress said my dress will cling to my legs if I don’t wear one. The seamstress told me she cannot remove the beaded halter strap because the neckline would look too pointy. Therefore, I would have to leave it, or have the strap sewn on to the neckline. She also said she will be removing 8 inches from the sides of the dress, but she cannot make the flare start lower because of the beading on the side and the ruching on the back, and because it will completely change the structure of the dress. I wish I was told this before!
Looking back at these pictures, I am heartbroken. I know I can go without the crinoline slip on the big day, but I also know that will make the dress a little longer. I want the flare to be lower, and apparently that is not possible. Don’t get me wrong — there is nothing wrong with an A-line dress — however, I was assured that the dress would look completely different than it actually does. I hate to sound like a Bridezilla, but I really am sad and disappointed. I just had to vent, thanks for listening. 🙁
EDIT: I accidentally posted this under the Dance category. Oops. Is there any way to move it to the Dress category?
