I used the sponge when I was using birth control and I actually preferred it.  It’s very easy to use, just wet it under some water and put it in.  It was very comfortable, not something you have to remember like the pill or the shot and so long as you are in a monogamous relationship with no worry of Save-The-Date Cards my now husband/then boyfriend preferred not having to use a condom.  I offer you these warnings though, depending on where you live, not every store carries them, so it might take you some hunting to find them.  Also, and this is VERY IMPORTANT, check the expiration date on the box before you buy them.  In my search for the sponge near where I live, I found a whole store stock of expired ones on the shelf!  Hope this helps!

I went off the pill years ago, and I went to using a diaphragm which I highly suggest. I love how easy it is, probably as easy as the sponge, and if used correctly I think it has a higher prevention rate then a sponge.
