Didn;t the DJ have someone to suggest? I know ours didn’t offer a projector for the slideshow, but he had a list of people I could contact that he had worked with before.

You can look into a professional lighting company to do your lighting. When would you have your slideshows? Is your venue very restrictive? If not, you can bring your own monitor and notebook and run the slideshow during the cocktail hour on a table/stand..It depends how large or small your wedding is.

The alternative is to borrow a projector from a friend or family member or to rent. You can easily set up your own "screen" by renting linen or something. Or, if you have it within your budget, you can get the same lighting/sound specialist to do it.

If your photographer or videographer is already renting any equipment (like lenses or strobes, stuff you wouldn’t necessarily know were rented unless you ask), see if they can add a projector and screen onto their list of rental equipment and bring it with them so you don’t have to worry about it.

I think lighting is important, but if I was on a budget, I’d skip the slideshow. Your wedding and dancing will keep them entertained. I’ve never run into a DJ that bring more than ane rack of lights, how many lights do you want?

I used Microsoft Photostory to make my own slideshow.  It is a pretty easy program to use and according to my husband is a free downtown on the Microsoft site.

If all you want is a gobo for the dance floor, you can purchase a custom one at http://www.goboman.com. You could have a friend or family member bring it in and set it up at the reception. We are in the same boat as you and that’s our plan.
