I’ve tried on far too many dresses (around 200) and got a wonderful feeling in this dress finally and my mom loved it… so it was a done deal! However, it does not look anything like the model pic on Maggie Sottero’s website. What do I need to wear underneath to get my dress like that instead of just “hanging down” on my short frame (I’m 5’2″).
Dress is Micah by Maggie Sottero.

Girl, you look STUNNING in your dress! Yes, I’m thinking either a crinoline or even a hoop skirt is the answer for your dress, but honestly, you look gorgeous in it as is!

@pengoala: Thanks so much! I originally wanted something airy and whimsical… but this is what makes me feel like a bride. I’m getting married outside and I like the idea of being fancy outside BUT it doesn’t stop that feeling of dress panic from creeping up!

It’s a beautiful dress! Crinoline or hoop would help give it some flare though.

*drool* I’m pretty much Maggie Sottero obsessed. I LOVE this dress on you. It’s beautiful. Crinoline will definitely help give you that extra bit of structure you’re looking for.

Your dress looks gorgeous, and By The Way the Stock photos always look flawless so it can sell the dress. My dress is the same way (Maggie ‘Alana”) looks more mermaid in the stock photo but on me its just kind of hangs. When I tried a mermaid crinolin under I got the desired poufyness in the skirt. I think either a crinolin or hoop skirt would be exactly what you want to give you the desired look.

Crinoline is the answer. I had the same problem with my Maggie Sottero dress too but once I put a nice crinoline skirt on it was like POW!

I think you look fantastic! If you want it to be more fluffy then yes you need to try a crinoline or a hoop under it as PP’s said. And as another said, stock photo’s are totally fluffed and edited!

Crinoline will probably be your answer. I too have a Maggie (Talese) but when I tried on the sample it just hung on me. Granted it was 2 sizes too big and samples get stuffed in and out of rhe bag, on and off brides, just overall well loved. Wait until you get your dress and decide if you still want poof.

200 dresses!?!? Wow!
I think your dress is beautiful, good choice! It looks fantastic on you. You can definitely add crinoline if you need a little extra something to your dress!

@RubyStar: 200 – I know it’s insane!! The lace/beaded dresses I loved irritated my skin so I had to keep hunting. Thanks for the help!

Thank you all for the help and support!! My dress will be here in December so I’ll have to try a crinoline. Hopefully I’ll be able to post some photos with and without it.

I agree with the PPs, I think crinoline will liven it up! Very pretty dress!

Definitely try a ball gown or a line slip. They do wonders!

Crinoline or hoop skirst make a huge difference I am a 2 dress bride and it adds so much more body to my dress =) I bought 2 different styles to see which one I like better I ended up going with the mermaid style better. I have an a-line shapped crinoline that also has the hoop if you are interested in purchasing it. I am selling it for $25 plus shipping.
