Yep…I’ve got it. I always knew I had. But I’ve talked myself out of it for the past 4-5 months. I finally put my entire wedding day ensemble today, and my heart sank. And then I took it all off and sobbed.
I don’t love my dress. And i feel awful about it. My dress is gorgeous. There is nothing wrong with it. I’m crazy. I know this. But it’s not right, and I know this too. I listened to too many people’s opinions when I went dress shopping and even though I wanted a fitted, mermaid, lace style…I ended up with a silk taffeta ballgown, that is so plain it makes me yawn. I’ve added a bling-y belt, a lace jacket, accessories, you name it…to “jazz” it up and it’s still not enough.
So now after a tearful conversation with my Future Mother-In-Law and my Fiance, I’ve decided to look for a new dress. With less than 5 months til the wedding, this doesn’t leave me with many options, but here they are. I would really appreciate your help and input!
Here is my current dress:
This is my second choice: It’s one of the very very first dresses that I put on and fell in love with. It *might* still be available, the dress has been discountinued, but the salon where I tried it on sent it to their outlet where it most likely still is, so I’m going tomorrow to see a) if it is still there and b) how much it is and the condition it’s been in
OK and option 3 is a dress that I found on preowndedweddingdresses.com (or whatever that site is called) and I love this dress. I’m just nervous because I have not tried on THIS dress before, but it has the mermaid that I love plus the lace as well.
So those are my choices right now. Thoughts bees?

I am going to be honest- the dress you have is beautiful and will look great if you don’t find something else, but the fit of the second on looks amazing on you. I think you are doing the right thing trying to see if you can get that sample.

I really like how the second dress looks on you. It is very stylish and flattering. However, the first one is beautiful too. I wouldn’t purchase another dress unless I had the budget for it.

Your first dress is beautiful, but you need to love it. Your wedding dress should make you feel stunning and if your current one doesn’t then you are right to keep looking. Keep us posted tomorrow when you go to see the other one, which is also lovely by the way.

I love the third one, but since you have never tried it on, I wouldn’t consider it an option.
I think 2 is your best choice…you rock that dress!!!

Your 1st dress looks beautiful on you. But if you really feel its not the one then do what makes you happy. The 2nd dress is all kinds of AMAZING. I hope they still have it & its in good condition. Good luck!

Fingers crossed that you can find the second dress, because it looks amazing on you!

I like the dress you have, but i LOVE the second dress, you look amazing in that style/fit!

I would like to say that your first dress is beautiful and classy and timeless. I love the curent dress that you have and I personally wouldn’t change it. but if you don’t feel comfortable in it then I think you answered your own question

Thank you everyone for your input! My other option is to take my current dress to my seamstress and see if she can “rework” it….I have an appointment with her on Sat, and I will either bring the new (second choice) dress or my current dress. I know the first dress is gorgeous, it’s just ALOT of dress (especially with a hoop skirt) and I really want something a little more fitted. I will definitely keep y’all posted after I go tomorrow!

I agree with the others. The first dress is stunning on you and I see why so many people wanted you to get it. But this is YOUR dress not theirs and if you don’t love it, don’t wear it. The second dress is stunning and unique. I would definitely check that dress out and see the price and condition. But keep an open mind. It may not be in perfect condition but a lot of flaws on a dress can be fixed.
Good luck and keep your head up!

I think your dress is really pretty. I’m wondering if it maybe needs ironed/steamed or whatever they do to get rid of wrinkles. If the front was smooth/less wrinkled I think it might have even more “wow” factor. But, i agree, you have to feel comortable on your day, and the other dresses are gorgeous, too. I may very well be writing a similar post when my dress comes in a month or so. 🙂 Keep us posted!

First one is beautiful but IMO lose the belt thing and that added shoulder shrug thing. There is a difference between plain and elegant, the first dress(minus the belt and jacket) is elegant. Second dress is a gorgeous fit but very busy and the dress will steal the show, I don’t think thats what you want afterall it is your day not the dress’ day. Third dress looks beautiful.
You have to LOVE it but I would strongly suggest keeping the first dress and ditching the added stuff.

I hate encouraging dress regret, but I think 2 is 1000x better. Have you looked for anything similar used online? The third dress seems very different from it to me, and I would want to have a better used option as a backup in case 2 isn’t available. Not that theres anything wrong with 1 or 3. They’re lovely. I just think you want 2 or something close to it.
