If any of you Bees are using Men’s Wearhouse for tuxes– beware of the ivory shirt! This was literally giving me nightmares, so I wanted to post something if anyone else was having this problem!
Their shirt is almost yellow looking. My dress is ivory, but when I saw that shirt I was really confused. The girl talked us into using the ivory shirt because the white would make my dress look dingy.
Anyway, weeks passed and I still was having nightmares about this shirt. My dress shop wouldn’t order me a sample of my dress and it’s not coming in until July. So I went to Men’s Wearhouse and the girl let me take the ivory and white shirts to my dress store (about 2 blocks away) to compare.
Let me tell you–if you have an ivory dress, go with the ivory shirt! The white is just too white. Here’s some pics below!

I went with the white shirt anyway. DH’s vest and tie were ivory to match my dress. But we both hated the ivory shirt. We don’t regret the white shirt one little bit.

I think both pics look fine

I have an ivory dress….thanks for this so much!!! lol

We went with the ivory shirt. I was skeptical until we built the tux and could see that it wasn’t yellow-ish once we put all the pieces together.

I laughed when I read your post because no lie…. I had a complete breakdown in the middle of the Men’s Warehouse over these shirts!!!!! My dress is ivory lace over GOLD, and the ivory shirt they showed me looked awful. But then the white almost looked blue in contrast. In the end, they actually dug in the back, pulled out the ivory shirt for me, paired it up with the ivory tie and vest, and put it with the black jacket, and that’s the one we ended up wtih. I did not like the white at all. The ivory isn’t as harsh and it’s softer to the eye…. and in photos it will look white anyway – oh and here’s the best part – NOBODY BUT YOU WILL EVEN NOTICE THAT IT’S NOT WHITE!! 🙂

My dress was ivory and my Darling Husband wore a white shirt. I was worried about it though. I use to be a bridal consultant at a tuxedo shop and we always told the brides the same thing MW told you.
In pro pics I don’t think anything is dingy and I can’t see a difference!

We ordered the ivory shirts as well (just picked the tuxes a week ago) and I REALLY appreciate that you posted the pictures. I was picturing a much darker ivory color and was completely afraid of it being too “yellow” as you described. This just put me at ease, so THANK YOU! 🙂

I didn’t even know ivory tux shirts existed until we went to MW for the tuxes! Fiance hated the ivory and I agreed-it looked so dingy. Yuck. My dress is ivory, but I’m not worried about looking dingy next to him since he’ll be wearing his jacket/vest for most of the pictures.

Ughh. I wish you had posted this a month ago! I was horrified by the ivory shirts everywhere! Especially the one at Men’s Warehouse. We bought a crisp white shirt.. I hope it looks okay. We’re getting married on Friday!!

Same thing here, we went with the white shirt because the ivory shirt looked silly (DH was wearing a grey suit though, I think that makes a difference)…
Haven’t gotten pro pics back yet, but haven’t been bothered by any of the guest pics: (not the best guest pic but you get the idea)

we got our tuxes from moores (similar to MW) and their ivory shirts were very yellow. my husband refused to wear a shirt that looked like it was nicotine stained. my dress was considered off-white so i was a bit concerned. we went with the white shirt and it wasn’t that much of a contrast to my dress. you don’t really notice in pics but the yellow shirt would have been drastically different to my dress.

We’re doing the white shirt and my dress is ivory. That’s what I’ve seen most people do and I don’t see a problem with it. FI is wearing an ivory vest and tie to match my dress. I love the look.

We’re also doing a white shirt and my dress is ivory. When we picked out the colors a few months ago, MW suggested ivory to match my dress and we both just immediately nixed it since white is the usual color for a tux (and also Fiance bought his tux to use again on the honeymoon cruise). I never really thought about having him completely match my dress. We did initially buy an ivory tie for him to match, but I recently started hating the idea so we returned the tie and bought a black bowtie for him to tie himself instead. I think I liked the classic tux look better than the ties; however, the groomsmen will be wearing a purple tie and vest. It should all look fine! I hope! Lol.
