I don’t break out that often, thank goodness for that! I get pimples when I’m stressed, eat pizza or it’s that time of the month. Sometimes I’ll get 7 or 8 pimples at one time on my chin but that’s rare. Typically I have a relatively smooth face and I’m thankful for that.
But with stress being a contributor for my pimples. I’m fairly certain I will wake up the morning of my wedding with at least one rather large pimple if not more. So instead of rushing to the store early in the morning frantic for a bottle of some sort of zit cream, I was hoping to get opinions on it here. Anything work great? Anything you’ve tried and didn’t work? Any preventative treatments you would recommend as well? As the day draws near I’m searching for things to keep my appearance in tip top shape despite the lack of sleep and nerves 🙂

I don’t break out often but when stressed I will – as well as hormonally.
To combat any wedding breakouts I started getting silk peel facials (microdermabrasian – but very friendly for sensitive skin) 4 months out from my wedding (every fortight). At first they made my skin worse but I saw a HUGE improvement after 2-3 sessions… my skin was smooth and bright and my congestion/blocked pores were virtually gone. This was really important to me as I was having an outdoor wedding and I didnt want to have to cake on the concealer on a hot day.
I also took evening primrose oil capsules before bed each night for 3 months before the wedding and kept my water intake high… I even bought a special drink bottle with filter so no matter where I was (and the quality of the water) I could always refill it and have 2 litres on hand.
I also simplified my skincare routine for the 6 weeks before the wedding – gentle facewash, witch hazel as a toner, my usual Decleor moisturiser and tea tree oil for the odd pimple. And my skin responded really well. I had my lip and chin waxed the week before the wedding and ended up with some small red bumps on my upper lip right up until the day before – but I had a tea tree cream (from my waxer) that calmed the bumps down… they weren’t noticeable at all on the day.
I was also given a tester of Decleor Clay and Herb Mask by my beauty therapist 2 weeks before the big day – I trialled it and really liked it… so I did the mask the night before the wedding and found it really brightened my skin.

Even though I didn’t follow my own advice by bringing in a new product so close to the day, I think simplifying and dialling back my skincare routine did my skin the world of good – especially after the microdermabrasian that had cleared up the little congestion that I did have.

Great tips, PP.
The only thing that ever worked for me is acne.org’s acne treatment. It’s pretty drying so I don’t use it everywhere, just in the places I usually break out (chin). And I no longer get pimples there!! 🙂 The only time I do is when I stop using it for a couple days. Also it’s the product that heals pimples the fastest, in my experience, so when I feel one coming I’ll pile a bunch of product on, and it will be gone a few hours later.
Fingers crossed no “uninvited guests” show up on your wedding day!

Acne.org has worked very well for me 🙂 It CAN be quite drying, but it keeps the pimples at bay. If you’re not prone to acne, just use a tiny amount, but get used to it weeks before the wedding, because it takes a while to get used to!
