I purchased my dress in july and it came in last week. I went to pick it up and tried it on and realized I need some alterations. I’m trying to work out and tone up a bit before my wedding in june. should i go ahead and start getting my alterations or should i wait closer to my wedding date? is it possible to get alterations too soon?

it’s recommended to start alterations around 6 weeks before. it is possible to get alterations too soon if you plan to lose weight — you don’t want your seamstress to have to take the dress in twice. there’s no harm in waiting until at least april!

I would wait a few more months especially if you are going to try to tone up some!

Wait to get your alterations until next year. I didn’t start mine until April before my early June wedding.

I agree you should wait, especially if you expect to change your body shape/tone before then. I started alterations for my late June wedding in late April (hmm, might have even been 1st week of May).

I went in for my first alterations appointment last month, but that was more because I wanted to get an idea of how much everything I needed for the alterations would cost. I won’t be going back in until next month for my next fitting and then I will probably have my last fitting in mid-February or the first week of March.
