The first picture was my runner up – it had EVERYTHING I wanted when I first started dress shopping. Thing is, by the time I found it, I had already fallen in love with my dress (the second picture). I realised that what I initially wanted wasn’t what I wanted any more, and I was obsessed with my dress. So I got it!! 🙂

Ok, I’ll play!  The first time I saw Divina in blush, before I was engaged, I knew it was MY dress.  Luckily, the proposal came not long after…

Here I am trying her on.  I ordered Divina in ivory and in a larger size than this sample.  She came in last week and in so much better than I imagined it’d be just based on the sample.  My fluff, more sparkle and the colour is so rich and beautiful!

I got sidetracked by a modern simple dress that I thought was the one, but I ended up gettinig exactly what I’d envisioned in the first place.

Runner-up

And the one:

@vip0802:  I always envisioned myself in a big ballgown with a drop waist …pictured below. (although I dont think this had too much of a drop waist) I actually tried it on and hated how I looked in it. I looked like a cupcake. So I left that store feeling down. I went to another store and the woman looked at me and said “why are you hiding your figure?” I was like i dont know, i dont think I have one. I showed her a picture of what I was looking for which was a ballgown will all lace and she said, I know what you want.

so…I ended up with this dress and I felt so amazing, so beautiful and I was soo soo happy. I still haven’t put my dress away yet!!! and I got married almost 6 months ago lol

@FutureMrsKelly2014:  So THAT’s the original SimplyBridal duplicated in my PP, wow! It’s so stunning, I’m glad I didn’t purchase it and went with a different Maggie Sottero dress, the copy would’ve done the original (which I can’t afford) no justice. But it looks beautiful on you

@vip0802:  My dress is way different than what I thought I wanted.  The only thing that’s the same is the silhouette.  I wanted a fit and flare, or mermaid, and I went with a fit and flare.  I was dead set on some sort of straps or illusion neckline – my dress is a sweetheart strapless.  I wanted head to toe lace – my dress is chiffon with no lace or any other embellishment.  I wanted off-white, my dress is stark white.

But I love it.  I tried my dress on at my first appointment and walked away from it because it wasn’t fitting my vision of my “dream dress.”  But after trying on 20 other dresses, and comparing them all (negatively) to the first dress, I realized that nothing else would hold a candle.

@vip0802:  I knew exactly what I was looking for, it was just hard finding it! I tried on other styles because people always say you end up with something you would never imagine liking, but it was just a waste of time for me haha

I had two dream dresses.

This sherbet Lazaro which was waaaaay over budget.

And Casablanca 1900, but I couldnt find any shops near me that had it. I actually tried on a somewhat similar Casablanca that I almost said yes to, but the beading on the chest scratched up my arms really bad.

And this is the dress I got.

I had a myriad of very large and frilly dresses picked out that I wanted to try on. I knew for sure that was the style I wanted, a very large statement dress. This is one that I had picked:

So when I got to the store and tried one on, I literally laughed out loud at how ridiculous I looked in such a poofy dress. I am a pretty small person, and the dress swallowed me whole. Instead, I fell in love with, and ended up purchasing, this dress:

TOTALLY different styles, but I’m so glad I went in with an open mind. That would be my biggest suggestion, keep an open mind and try on EVERYTHING. They look completely different on the hanger and in a bag than they do on. And you never know what you will look great in until you try it on. So try on a dress in every style. You’ll be glad you did!

Mori Lee 6746 (left) was my runner up for a long time and then I found the Stella York 5836 (right). It felt so much more bridal than the Mori Lee, which felt more like an evening gown to me!

@vip0802:  I got the dress I always dreamed of. A ball gown with beading! I can’t wait to wear her in less than 5 months! Dress shopping was so fun. Good Luck!
