I am definitely a down low bride.  I loved hearing all of the well wishes from family and friends, but I hated being gawked at.  Luckily at work 2 other girls got engaged the same weekend as me, so the attention was dialed down.  I do love looking at it thought! My classroom just got a document camera and once when I was teaching i saw it on the huge smart board.  Me and a bunch of my 5th grade girls all went “ooh!” haha it was great.  I say flaunt it if you want!! AND.. where is a picture ?!?!?!?!

@MrMrsSmith:  I think it’s completely normal to want to show off your ring.  I think a lot of people are just excited and want to share their excitement as much as possible … And that includes showing off the ring.

I’m not really that kind of person, though.  I love sharing my ring on the Bee, but I never feel weird about that because most of the other ladies on this site love sharing their rings as well.  It doesn’t feel “inappropriate” or ‘showy” here.

In real life, I’m much less inclined to show it off.  I show people when they ask to see it, but I often feel weird doing so (even if it’s someone I’m close to).

It obviously depends on the individual.  I don’t think there’s a right or wrong way to deal with being engaged.  If you want to show off your sparkle, go for it!

For the first week after being engaged I felt pretty comfortable waving it around a bit, so to speak. After that, I just sort of felt that it wasn’t really “new” news anymore so I didn’t bring it up to people, but when people asked I was more than happy to tthe and show them!

However, I might not be as subtle as I imagine, because I was out to dinner with a friend yesterday and apparently was fiddling around with my ring so much (or something) that my server asked if I had gotten engaged recently! Haha, I happily confirmed that I had and he offered some congratulations and moved on.

@MrMrsSmith:  I keep it on the downlow. I don’t post ring pictures, I don’t tell people I’m newly engaged unless they ask. Except for when I changed my status on Facebook and posted pics from our engagement party/ceremony, I don’t post anything that screams out that I’m engaged  (except here).

I looooove admiring mine, especially when I’m out in the sun. I try not to make too big of a fuss over it with friends though, haha, though I’m sure they catch me staring at it and positioning it perfectly!

I was very excited about my engagement, but I didn’t hold my ring hand out unless somebody asked to see it.

I haven’t gotten my ring yet so I really don’t know how I’ll be lol but I think I’ll be in the middle. I won’t go around showing it off in person to coworkers or family or friends unless they bring it up & grab my hand but I WILL have a few pictures on facebook! It drives me NUTS when someone on my facebook gets engaged & doesn’t have an up close ring picture! haha I wanna see the ringgg!

I was really quiet about it all – other than wearing the ring, and changing my facebook status, there are very few people I actually told, or showed the ring to. I just told a few close friends and family and let it filter out from there – if anyone wanted to see the ring then they could, but I didn’t stick it in their faces.
