@bookworm88:  Hahaha, OMG, I definitely didn’t get that.

I was prepared to tell OP that I curse like a sailor but I didn’t during the proposal, hahahaha.

Do you think he would be offended if you did say “Finally?”  I think DH would have laughed!

I didn’t use either F word, but I did loudly and impatiently exclaim “Well put it on already!”

I totally dropped the F bomb!  When I walked into the house and saw rose petals on the ground and knew it was happening so I immediately started tearing up.  When he walked out of the kitchen holding flowers and the ring, I pushed him and said “you’re such a f*cking asshole!” while simultaneously laughing and crying!  Needless to say, he still got down on one knee and proposed so he wasn’t mad 🙂  I swear all the time and only said it because I was so shocked that he actually surprised me with the proposal.  I had known he had the ring for a week or so.  Oh well!

I just kept saying, “No, no, is this a joke?  You’re joking right?”  I kept repeating this over and over while crying–the ugly cry.  He totally caught me off guard.  The night before he proposed, I had mentioned getting engaged and he firmly shut it down and told me to stop pressuring him.  The next morning, he pulled out the ring.  I’m glad I wasn’t suspicious!  And no, I never said the F word.  Lol

I think about me saying something sarcastic or “finally” when it finally happens because now I’m getting very close to the “bitter” stage of waiting.  I know both our families and friends will be saying it LOL.  They are to the point of annoyingly constantly asking when we’re going to get engaged and married already!

I didn’t drop a f-bomb but I really thought I would’ve.  Instead I said, “You can’t be serious?”  lol

I didn’t say “finally” because I guess I technically wasn’t waiting, we’ve been together almost exactly one year (just got engaged last week) and I wasn’t expecting him to propose soon.

However, my reaction probably wasn’t what he envisioned.

Once I realized what he was doing, I think I said something like, “What are you doing? Stop it. What are you doing? Are you serious? Now? Stop. Shut up. WHAT ARE YOU DOING?”

Poor guy was halfway down on one knee asking, “Wait…do you really want me to stop?”

I had to compose myself and tell him no, go ahead, I was just shocked and that was my gut reaction, whoops!

I was REALLY ready for a proposal.  I thought it was going to come on my birthday or our anniversary a week later.  One night though, he was taking FOREVER to come to the door when we were leaving for dinner.  I went back down the hallway to see what in the world was keeping him.  As I was walking down the hallway, I briefly thought “please tell me that he’s not just going to propose in the middle of my bedroom…no romance, no lead up, no anything.”  So, when I walked into my bedroom to find him down on one knee, I apparently said “WHHAAAAATTTT are you doing?” He thought I was honestly confused.  I think a part of me was trying to tell him “um, please don’t do it this way!!!”  We talked later and I found out that he had a big romantic thing planned but then just couldn’t wait.  I’m one of those people who needs some romance, so he surprised me later with a wonderful, romantic night out.  But, he loved to tell people that he popposed the question and I responded with “what are you doing??”

@OneOfTheseDaysAlice:  Haha well it totally didn’t help that he didn’t do the traditional drop to one knee thing haha. He said he wanted to propose to me the same way he told me he loved me (see we were never dating, we were friends that met in a roomate situation and one day, out of the blue sitting on the couch he was like “I’m in love with you.” needless to say I didn’t believe that one either!)

I said what I thought I’d say – “Are you serious? I’m going to be sick!” I really wasn’t, but that’s so me.

Lol that would actually be something that I would – if our first year anniversary was anything to go by. I’m not a fan of surprises and he managed to surprise me with a necklace (which I’ lost this morning grr) and the first words out of my mouth were “oh you effing b******! I have a mouth like a sailor sometimes
